Hey guys,
Has anyone seen a decent tournament tray for IA yet? Looking to get one pretty soon. Also interested in a nice dice tray since some of the stores I've been playing at are a little tight on space.

Go to your local dollar store and buy a cheap cookie sheet or better yet a brownie pan for the sides. You can roll dice in it, carry everything in it and bake some goodies when you get home. If you want to get really fancy, you can magnetize your bases and they'll stick to the tray
I do like the magnetizing idea. I have heard that some people glued magnets to the bases of all of their pieces; not only did that give their pieces more heft and stability on the map, but it also worked great with their transportation system (also using a metal base for their squad box/tray). That is an attractive idea to me but it'll have to wait until I get more discretionary income, since that's gonna be a lotta magnets! I also don't use a squad box with metal in it.
If I remember I'll take a picture of my tournament squad solution when I get home. It's basically a Plano box with each compartment set aside to hold a certain thing: Focus tokens in one tray, Hidden tokens in another, Stun tokens in another, command cards, dice, damage tokens, activation tokens, several slots for figures, etc. I've been using this method from the start and I'm really happy with it.
Whatever option you go with, I would highly recommend that it includes a user-friendly method of carrying your tokens and keeping them organized. You don't want to waste time and mental energy searching through your box or bags to find minor things like tokens. When it comes to tournaments, I think that simplicity and ease of use are probably the primary components of a good storage/transportation system.

I really like this idea. I use small toolboxes for both Armada and X-Wing (I prefer my X-Wing setup overall, and use it much more), but don't really have an Imperial Assault group to worry much about Skirmish games...
But I like the idea of a metal sheet/base and simply adding magnets.
To make the hunt a bit easier, does anyone know if there's a magnet already cut in the perfect shape/size for IA minis?
I found this to be the best with map tiles: http://www.sterilite.com/SelectProduct.html?id=831&ProductCategory=274§ion=1
Don't use the two long trays inside, and push the 6 slow one to the edge. All map tiles fit inside and all your tokens, creatures, etc fit. It doesn't fit the massive figures but is neat otherwise. I also just discovered that ModCube makes an IA set so I bought some. They work really well! I have a die with all conditions, and one for damage. Between those and the tray I'm sitting in a good spot for IA!
Target and Home depot both have that Sterilite divided box, under $10.

Could you post some pics of that mod cube and maybe tell me a list more how you like it? I found it interesting but it does not alleviate the clutter which is why am leery on it.

I use the plano 750 box thing that houses 3 big planos and 2 small ones. This houses everything I have for imperial assault no problem (every expansion and all villain pack) plus the 3d terrain I printed/panted. I keep all the stuff I need for skirmish in one of the smaller boxes on the side and use the other small for the list ill take with me the minis, deployment and command cards. So when I leave I grab the 2 planos and if I happen to need anything else. When I get home I put the skirmish plano back in the slot and i can leave that list together or put the minis/cards away. This does double duty for campaign I put the skirmish tray in the center of the table so anyone can reach conditions and damage or strain. I do not use any of the game boxes or baggies at all. So this is a travel and storage solution all in one. 40 bucks at wall mart
I've got some cheap Plano type boxes (from homebase in UK) then I move them into a mini kr case for transporting to a game which has all my tokens and bits in too
Hi, I just designed a tray myself. It doesn't hold map tiles, but a smattering of everything else. Once I have it made/finished I'd be glad to show it off.
