While previews can happen on any day, new product announcements seem to be attached to specific days or events. For example, many people are expecting rogue one announcements on Force Friday. I'm curious want events we have seen come with announcements. Gencon, force Friday, Star wars day, have all had them. Are certain conventions like Origins likely too? I'm just curious if anyone has kept track of patterns.

Absol197 has done a lot of product speculation, but as it applies to the SWRPG. I think a general projected schedule of announcements and releases using product codes can be found within the Edge of Empire RPG thread, usually close to the top because of updates. Again, YMMV as she only listed RPG information.

Any toy (or game) that is related to new films generally is held secret until a set time, Force Friday, for instance. The reason is that the marketers for the show, those promoting it, don't want any details to slip. This secrecy led to the force awakens x-wing starter to have pilots like Red and Blue ace, and the lower skill Poe Dameron, that didn't reflect what we saw in the movies. FFG didn't have much to go on. Oscar Isaac said his character was the best **** pilot in the galaxy. But was that bluster or truth? All things being said, in the same craft and matches skill to skill Poe wpuld have a higher pilot skill than Wedge.

The point is, some product cannot be revealed until the liscence holder, Disney here, says so.
