So I pick up my ship and the base falls off.
Grrrr.
How do you keep this from happening?

Stop picking up the model, for my next trick i'll end the brain bug plague that's gripped this planet since the Regan era!

It's all about the base, no model.
I fall out of my chair. Maybe super glue can fix both of our problems.
This stuff is your friend: http://www.aerodromeaccessories.com/index.php/game-aides/wings-of-glory/altitude-glue.html
It's like post-it-note glue for your pegs.

You are using the wrong pegs. FFG offers three kinds of pegs. Those which are too small for the socket of the ship, those which fit and those who are too large, still fit and will break your ships socket.
They are conveniently exactly looking the same and make sure that you will eventually break your ships and magnet mod them. For the price FFG is asking for the models it would be asking too much to make them consistent. And I am kind of serious as the fully painted models are super awesome and super cheap. Glue and magnets are your friend.
You can also dab a bit of PVA glue on the male peg and fit it to the ship, then take it apart again and let the glue within the ships female peg dry (wipe off the other peg though after).
Do this as many times as it takes to form a tighter fit.
I had to do this with my two Ties that came with the Gozanti...and on the other side of things I had to file down the Goznati's stand pegs as they were to tight!
I had this issue, but as people have said, it seems different wave ships have different size pegs.... such a small amount of difference that it isnt obvious, but enough so some ships on the wrong pegs will drop as soon as you touch them. I went through my ships lists I wanted to play test and made sure each one had a peg that fitted correctly. Complete pain in the butt, but only way to be sure.
I fell off the base once, but all the base belong to me, so I was right back on it again.
A tad bit of blutac does the trick.

Yeah, that was terrible. I'll just go back to my TIE/sf thread.

What I always do is just put a bit of paper or plastic bag over the peg before I stick it into the ship. The paper/plastic makes it fit tightly and then I have no issues. I've been doing it since Wave 5(Decimators and YT2400s are famous for falling off their bases) It works good and it super easy to do on the spot.
For my Large ships, I use 0.25" inside diameter clear tubing to hold the ship on the peg.
It fits the peg and nub on the bottom of the ship snugly and usually prevents the base from dropping off.
An X-Acto knife easily cuts through it to get the right length and it's about 35 cents a foot - so a cheap fix.
It also looks pretty good - kind of like a larger diameter peg.
That's pretty cool and interesting.

The Force doesn't work like that.
I'm going to try using a little piece of this to tighten it up at the joints. Cost 22 cents at Walmart.
