Remove One Torpedo Slot - Would That Be Enough To Nerf Contracted Scouts?
Don't tell me what to do. You're not my real dad.
That is never going to happen.
Some people having a difficult time with a simple question, I see. ![]()
I think the Deadeye/R4 Agromech combo nerf has been enough. It's still a strong archetype, and certainly the first engagement is still deadly. But the follow-up damage and decisions they have to make when stressed have decreased their popularity in our meta.
Either that or those players have all switched to Dengaroo ![]()
Say no to nerfs.
Honestly, how often does a Scout get that second torp off anyway? Maybe 50% of the time at best?
Once the fur-ball starts, it's hard for the Scout to A) get a ship in arc and B) keep them out of range 1.
Yes.
But why would you double-nerf something? Is there a new upgarde called Black Market Nerfing Tools coming out?
Yes.

Boooo...
Yes.

That's a counter against Soontir and Dengaroo, not Scouts.
And I find it funny that with the release of black market slicing tools, there are still people complaining about how Soontir, PTL, AT, SD is massively OP. If I'm flying Soontir, there's no way I'm going NEAR a ship with BLST. A 50% chance to take away 1/3rd of his HP is nothing to sneeze at.

the title is a question
the OP is a demand ![]()
anyway, idk about balance but you will basically force them to blow all their torps on Biggs and possibly get screwed in any matchup involving him

You didn't get it...
I was saying, is there a card coming out that would benefit from something being nerfed, and by extension, double nerfed...
BMST is awesome. Stand down, soldier - your fight is elsewhere.

Ahhhh, but the demand was to debate the question, and so far you're the only person who has ![]()
One torp slot means Alpha strike would actually become an Alpha strike - Scouts takeout their priority target (or Biggs, yes) first time of asking before they end up relying on that 2-dice turret.
Scouts being screwed against Biggs lists would at least mean there would actually be s a hard counter to them - good ol' rock/paper/scissors/lizard/spockwing
Edited by FTS GeckoSo if we're going to talk about our fantasy worlds where our impossible rebalancing demands are met via the adjustment and reprinting of old cards, we have much bigger fish to fry than this.
As it stands, you could have taken away pretty much anything from Scouts to make them reasonable, but instead they got everything. If we're time traveling, I think the best thing to take away from U-Boats to make them fair and reasonable ships is the barrel roll (optimally), or at least the hard 1 manuevers.
hell no
the 1 turns and barrel-roll are what make them amazing feedback array blockers
and if there's anything this game doesn't need, it's less guaranteed damage ![]()

Yes, I know. I just don't think they should be amazing blockers AND super sturdy for the cost AND super alpha strikers.
I know which of those things is your favorite toy, but I still think FFG should have picked only two of the above rather than the full set.
to hell with the torps then
mother lovers rolled four blanks for me last sunday; to hell with them!
had to feedback zap health a Ryad to death so poor Palob could do the rest with TLTs

You, discuss!
Haven't fully thought it through, but just for laughs (and because it fits FFG's theme of making arcs more important), what would this ship have become if it'd had zero torpedo slots but instead had a cannon slot?

Nah, that idea is terrible. It probably just makes them meaner.
You equip 2 with HLC and 1 with Mangler, leaving you with like 7 points for an Intel Agent and three R4 Agromechs. Probably still a nightmare.

still a better fringer ![]()
not sure why they didn't give it a cannon, honestly. Would'a sold more special Ks to fill the ept with Crackshot instead of deadeye
FFG will never change a card's numbers, icons, etc etc. Timing yes, whats printed on the card? no
The PS3 scout should have never had an EPT. I think that's the biggest flaw.
Furthermore, I think the dial is too capable and didn't meet the goal of having a properly balanced asymmetric design. There's not enough consequence to using the "inefficient" direction. Every right bank and turn should have been red, with maybe an exception of the 1-speed bank. I'd give it red left T-rolls and S-loops, but remove any right versions.
Edited by ArttemisOn the most recent episode of the 186th podcast, Alex Davy talks a lot about scouts, guidance chips and deadeye. After listening, I really think there is a good chance they might make Guidance Chips small ship only. If that happens, scouts will still be decent but the alpha will be less reliable and it would allow Rebel jousters to come back out from hiding.
They are fine already.
The EPT on PS3 is a bit over the top - but hey there are so many counters to them.
