Literally laughing at most of you . Calm down.

By thebigeb2589, in X-Wing

Now please don't take this personally I've just been here for a long time playing since like wave 2 or 3. I'm sure some of you who have been around for awhile will agree with me and probably enjoy watching the chaos around here as much as I do. What am I talking about?

All the DAILY "fix" threads, all the "(ship) is OP/too weak" all the stop putting good cards in bad ships" blah blah blah.

This thread is not written in anger, quite the opposite. I am thoroughly entertained by the number of tantrums I see here on a regular basis and I just had to say thank you for all the hilarious rage quit posts I've read over the years.

Any other old timers out here remember when you were called stupid for "wasting points on torpedoes when you could be taking a cannon upgrade" now we see them everywhere (limited to the few variations of U boat lists). By everywhere I'm speaking towards percentage of lists with them vs without in the CURRENT meta.

Remember when you were looked down upon for loving to fly 3 tie defenders, now that's a common suggestion in the CURRENT state of the game.

Remember when rebels were the only thing in the meta (fat han) now if you flew that ppl would think you were Nuts for not flying a scum lists?

Remember when 4b wings was a thing?

Remember flying (even if not competitive) 3 outer rim smugglers because 3 ships with 360 firing arcs with that much health was mind blowingly strong.

Or even 3 bounty hunters?

Remember when (2013) this was a competitive world's list?

Jonathan Gomes (Top 4)

Luke Skywalker in an X-wing

Shield Upgrade

R2-D2

Draw Their Fire

Rookie Pilot in an X-wing

Rookie Pilot in an X-wing

Rookie Pilot in an X-wing

You would NEVER see that today!

Remember when they changed the Phantom decloak rules and everybody lost their minds?

So what is the point I'm trying to make? The game changes, ships come and go and come back again and then leave again. Upgrades that were once unless (torpedoes and bombs) will become game winning from time to time. Eventually your favorite ship WILL get a bump/nerf, And the meta will change with every new wave. It's what happens. So calm down, stop crying, grab some popcorn and enjoy the ride. And for all of you that will get mad over this post I can't wait to read your "I'm quitting this game and feeding all my models to the cat so you can't have them" threads.

I'd like to say "see you all at wave 20" but I know most of you want still be here, so I'll just say.... fly casual

Okay, but Palp Aces still ruins the game.

Because they were significantly improved.

No and even then it wasn't. Double named Falcons was the original NPE though.

Or even 3 bounty hunters?

That I remember.

Because that's Wave 1. The winning list then had a TIE advanced. Nobody had actually discovered the full power of the Wave 1 Howlrunner Swarm then.

Remember when they changed the Phantom decloak rules and everybody lost their minds?

I believe the actual response was "thank you."

Eventually your favorite ship WILL get a bump/nerf

I think it's more to do with lists people hate rather than ships people like.

You run Palp Aces. Also you said that about Superdash a few months ago.

Fair enough, however I find theorizing fun. It is interesting to see what others would do to help balance the game. It gives you an insight into someone else's perspective on what they see as unfair.

I can agree with this. There seems to have been an increase number of ridiculous post as of lately.

While there are some lists I've hated fat Han and triple uboats, it's only for a few months.

People need to grow the **** up and remember that we are grown adults pushing plastic space ships around making laser sounds, and quoting scene from movies.

I get a kick out of people who are already saying something is overpowered before it's even released. Thank heavens they have no input on the design of this game. If some people had it their way, fat Han would just be worse. Thing about people is they are afraid, and don't like change. As I said if they had it their way, the game would be extremely unbalanced, though in their own opinion having fat Han and Poe flying around all day and every day is great.

Ffg is a business, and they want to sell ships. What better way to do that than introduce new ships and abilities, and change your the meta. If all you had to do was fly fat Han every time, then why bother buying anything new? Organize play is all about marketing. You want to play tournament, you need to stay on top, and You can't do that if your stuck 3 waves behind.

I swear though some people have the worst ideas when it comes to balancing and their opinions on what's op. It's real funny when they haven't even used it yet

I run Palp Aces while fully acknowledging that it ruins the game. I record how much value I get from Palpatine every game, and tell opponents how broken Palp Aces is as I'm playing it. I tell them as I'm playing them that I'm beating them with a no skill list.

But of course, "PGS uses Palp Aces, what a hypocrite! He has no right to complain about it!".

And yes, Super Dash still ruins the game.

Also didn't Jonathan Gomes just rank in the top 8 at Vancouver Regionals with 5x GSP Y-Wings + ABT?

Remember when 5x Y-Wings were competitive?

Not all change is bad.

Not all change is good.

Not sure why this confuses so many people.

Not all change is bad.

Not all change is good.

Something isn't even released yet and people are screaming broken, op.

For God's sake rebels have been in the soot light for years since the game was released. Scum has been pretty bad up until late, and now people are bitching and moaning about rebels being to weak. Even though they are still making top spots. Ships that people claim are no longer good. Biggs, coran and Wes has won two regionals and done well in other areas. Has any other factio won worlds yet? Heaven forbid they may not this year (though that is yet to be seen)

If some had it there way the game would never evolve.

And yes, Super Dash still ruins the game.

Have any proof? Please tell me how many Regionals Super Dash has won this year.

edit: because we all know this is where PGS stops replying, the answer is 2. Out of 199.

That would be never, until the Vancuver finals.

Also, we need to make that 4X list a thing again, except lose the shield upgrade and add Astros to the rookies and everyone gets IA.

Did you see the results from the Russian Nationals this year? 2 B-Wings, Horton in a Y-Wing and a Z-95 was 7th place. That person is my hero.

But, much this. I disliked triple scouts immediately, but mostly because I've been running rebel control and it wrecked it. I hate Dengaroo even more. I have been playing palp aces, and I don't feel palp is at all unbalanced but he's really good. Really good. I have been playing a lot of defenders of late (as I find they can beat Dengaroo and I hate that list). But, soon new ships will hit, the meta will shift, and we get to see if BMST punches palp aces like I think it will. If so, it'll be a totally new meta shift yet again. Enjoy the ride. I'm grateful, I change what I play from wave to wave. It would get pretty stale otherwise.

Yep. Saw that one coming.

Generally speaking, pennies, 2P's and 5P's are bad, along with nickels and dimes. 10P's and quarters are always useful, also anything above.

That's all I have to say about change.

I do agree that people do bicker and whine about the big new thing, there's always a sky falling thread.

Well I suppose you're not being hypocritical so long as you're apologizing to your opponent for using a list you see as overpowered and broken, don't get enjoyment over the wins you get with that list, and explaining to them in detail why the list is, in your eyes, ruining the game.

You are doing all that, right?

There is a certain amount of ironic humor reading these posts in this particular thread.

And yes, Super Dash still ruins the game.

Because Super Dash ignores everything about this game that makes it interesting. I don't care how common it is in the meta or how many large events it wins, Super Dash automatically beats a lot of things in the game, chief among them regular jouster ships.

So yeah, it won't win a large event because Palp Aces is straight up invincible, but it will stomp all the traditional jouster lists it faces.

You ignore having to get something in your firing arc.

You ignore the cannon in primary arc only rule.

You ignore being limited to one action.

You ignore the downside of Push the Limit by having your entire dial be green, OR you use Kyle and actually start benefitting from the downside of PtL, and with boost and barrel roll on a large base and a green maneuver, you can move wherever you want to anyways.

Not only are you a turret that ignores maneuver dials, but you also have engine upgrade and barrel roll on a large base.

You ignore the downside of HLC being range 2-3 only by being able to move wherever you want to.

You ignore the downside of being bad at the game and misjudging a boost or barrel roll and going off the map because the rules were changed to cater to Super Dash players who need this game to be like bumper bowling. Boost look risky? Try it anyways, why the hell not?

You ignore the damage deck. The new damage deck came out to cater to Super Dash players. That damage card that says that you take a damage when you overlap an asteroid? Super Dash ignores asteroids!

Oh yeah, how could I forget, Super Dash ignores obstacles.

Incredible. All that and you still didn't answer my question.

Anyway, Super Dash has won 2 of 199 Regionals this year.

Although, I'd accept your opinion that Super Dash is ruining the game for you because you can't seem to beat it. Can we agree on that statement?
