I'm thinking over concepts at the moment. I'm thinking either Jedi something or ..... I'm having a bit of trouble coming up with the or part.

I've gone over a list of concepts I have and one that stands out is a martial artist. But there are two to three different builds for that lol. One using the Infiltrator, one using the Warden and the final using the Aggressive. I'm giving it some thought though

I'm thinking about how to alter the character's background. Could you tell us a bit more about what sort of agency we owe duty to?

The Republic, in general, or just Naboo itself. But characters can start as non-affiliated and choose to take up Duty with the group if it serves them.

The beginning of the adventure starts with the players in Theed during the initial invasion. Previously, they had been on a chartered transport off-planet, but were shot down by the attacking forces. The pilot's daughter was injured--but not badly--and the PCs had returned to Theed to return with medical supplies and parts for the ship, but before they could finish and get out of the city, the invasion force hit the city.

Massan could have easily been looking for work on the planet, or finishing a job, and decided to get off planet when he heard rumors of approaching Krath forces.

Seeing as jnrschulz' PC is Naboo security, we can maybe say the other PCs met up with him in the city.

Quick note - my enforcer or politico will be pretty into coercion, so there'd likely be quite a bit of overlap with an aggressor or warden (coercion and streetwise for the Zabrak enforcer, which I'm leaning towards, or coercion and other social skills for the Hutt politico)

Maybe a melee martial artist? You can still be very Chow Yun-fat with a fighting staff. Warrior/Shii-Cho Knight or even Hired Gun/Marauder, maybe.

Massan is an excellent computer guy, a good Mechanic and (in a pinch) a serviceable field medic. He is also decent at Stealth, and has high intellect so he can sometimes make untrained knowledge skill checks as well. He is also semi-decent at shooting stuff with his blaster pistol, but unlikely to improve in that area, for a while at least.

I was leaning towards the enforcer already, but what's your beef with Hutts?

I don't mind some overlap. The Infiltrator version would likely be Nautolan. But the Warden or Aggressor would likely be a Nikto. I may go over Marauder again too.

The enforcer would be focused on coercion and streetwise, with talk the talk and loom giving them extra uses. Secondary skills in survival and melee. He'd be a local criminal throwing in with the Republic because it suited him.

The politico would be all the social skills, with a particular focus on coercion and leadership, as it has in combat uses for them. I do not, as of yet, have a background for him

Osfmor being part of Naboo Security would fill mostly a combat role. He will have some training in medicine,survival and stealth as well. Working on his background a bit. He sees himself kind of like the Operative from Serenity. He believes in the peaceful nature of the Naboo culture but realizes he must do things to protect the way of life that sometimes involves violence.

I'm guessing... Twi'lek Smuggler/Charmer or Thief?

Does look like the enforcer's the better fit, then. Built this character sheet for a game that never got off the ground. Background will need to be changed, but skills/stats/equipment should work fine as is

If I went Smuggler Charmer, I would have different skills and talents. One rank in Deception, Pilot Space, Skulduggery, and Cool, and two ranks in Charm.

Talents would be Inspiring Rhetoric, Improved Inspiring Rhetoric, and Grit.

Eventually I will get both trees anyway. Do we need a vehicle driver/pilot or a face more to start the game off?

Driver might be more useful at the start. You never know.

So here's what I'm thinking, Niktoo Warden or Aggressor. Not a Jedi, just a Force user. Into martial arts mostly. Not sure which I prefer since I don't have the Guardian book at the office with me. I'm thinking big fun guy though. Kinda a mix between Wesley Snipes and Eliot from Leverage. Also want to use the cryo whip from the Guardian book if I can afford it. I'll likely have a sheet sometime tomorrow, depending on when I get home and tomorrows agenda.

Thoughts?

I may want to tie his background a bit to another character. I picture him being on Naboo for a martial arts tournament but having a friend on the planet when things go down gives him a lot of incentive to helping out.

Sounds fine, although the whip is a bit pricey, at 1550. Affordable, but that means forgoing bonus XP. Your choice, though. Which Nikto subspecies, by the way? You'll have to work out the background with the others.

Speaking of gear, could everybody think of a relatively reasonable player reward you'd want?

I guess I'll make the whip the first thing I purchase when we have real monies!!! Gotta have goals in life. I was going to go Green Nikto. It makes sense for a martial artist since they have claws ....also I kinda like the idea of being able to climb with them. Not sure how often that will come up but it is a possibility. I'll likely need the extra xp bonus to buy Enhance since I'm thinking of sinking all of my starter xp into stats (Brawn 4, Agil 3 and WP 3). That should make him a good combatant in general plus being able to do some intimidating stuff.

Two main reasons for my comment. First, having a PC that is a Hutt changes the dynamic in the group and how NPCs react to the group. Let's just say Hutts have a massive reputation and even if a single Hutt is different from the steriotype he will always be tarred with the same brush as the rest of them by the majority of NPCs we run into. Don't think a starving citizen is going to come to a group including a Hutt to look for help.

The second reason is I really like Massan, and I would never be able to play that character in a group including a Hutt. Like a large portion of the Klatooanian population he is a former slave of a Hutt. Add to that the fact that his main emotional weakness is fear and it is obvious to me that he would never choose to be around a Hutt if he could possibly avoid it.

I'll give it some thought. If the reward comes from a criminal element I'd possibly go with the outlaw tech data breaker. If it comes from a more legally inclined source I'd have to think about it a little.

For Dubi Fandy, he's very much a support role (makes choosing a duty easy!) and is simply happy to be part of a group of entities who're happy to have him around and don't expect him to act as a slave. It means he's happy to take on whatever is asked of him, whether that be the boring task of guard duty, trying to improve kit, patch wounds up or anything. His starting stats are...
