Has any one built a bomber list worth play in a Tournament?

By devotedknight, in X-Wing Squad Lists

question in title.

Sable Gryphon came up with a list that I love, and have used in tournaments before (and not done horribly in).

Scimitar Bomber + Proximity Mines x4

Omicron Group Pilot + Vader

100 points.

I like that list a lot.

A twist I put on it and also did well with in a league is this:

Scimitar Bomber + Proximity Mines x3

Patrol Leader + Vader

That one is fun too but the loss of a ship hurts a bit though the extra flexibility of the decimator over the shuttle helps even that out. Still I prefer the one with the shuttle.

I haven't tried it yet but I plan on running the first list but with Deathfire swapped out for the shuttle though the shuttle is probably a better choice.

I ran this in a league once and destroyed my opponent, though in a competetive tournament I don't think it would last long:

Gamma Squadron Pilot + Extra Munitions + Proton Bombs x4

If you want just one bomber in a list, throw in Tomax, he seems to have a lot of flexibility in how you can build him.

How many TIE Bombers does it have to have for you to consider it a "bomber list"?

4x Scimitar Squadron Pilot + TIE Shuttle + Tactician (18pt each)

Tomax Bren + Crack Shot (25)

Tomax +crack + EM + assault missiles + LRS

Captain Jonus + deadeye + EM + homing missiles + LRS

Vessery + tie/D + T beam + VI + MKII

super alpha strike list, kills u-boats all the time (on average kills 1 u-boat a turn), anything trying to joust with it melts for the most part, swarms loose howlrunner + looses a crack pilot + nearly all ties at 2 health, Palp aces can be tricky because its either erase one of the aces from existance then blow up palp or blow up palp and deal with arc dodging.

Has done very well for me so far.

3 x Gamma Squadron Pilot (19)

Homing Missiles (5)

Cluster Missiles (4)

Predator (3)

Extra Munitions (2)

Guidance Chips (0)

Total: 99 points.

You have an alpha strike that is equivalent to triple JM5Ks, but that actually gets deadlier at close range due to the Predator + Cluster Missiles combo. PS 5 is relevant as you fire before crack swarms and nearly all other generic pilots (excluding Royal Guard pilots and Glaive squadron pilots) giving you a PS advantage. Against aces its important to have an opening salvo of 3 shots onto an enemy ace, otherwise you risk a total waste of munitions.

How many TIE Bombers does it have to have for you to consider it a "bomber list"?

As a general and loose rule, it how many points that you spend. If most your point is in bombers than it's a bombers list. But this is a very loose rule.
