The star wars the force awakens should be a seporate game!

I'm glad they added tfa ships because it makes it harder to omit prequel ships because of era differences.

Resistence a d First Order fit with the existing rebel and imperial factions far easier and nicer than prequel factions do

While I liked The Force Awakens, the Rebellion Era is my favorite Star Wars time period. I can't mix the two eras in X-wing. It just feels so wrong. When enough TFA Era ships are released, I can see myself playing that era but I doubt I'll ever mix the two. I haven't bought a single TFA ship yet but I will buy R1 ships since it's the same time period.

The problem with prequel ships is not the era, but the factions.

The other problem is how do you balance ships for prequel era when they were the best and brightest around with the the same ship as it is in the game now. For example the Headhunter. It was one of the top fighter craft in the Republic at that time performing the same role as the X-wing does in the civil war period. In the game now it is stated as an older ship well past it's prime. And there are a number of ships currently in the game were it's design was clone wars or older and are stated as older ship or heavily modified form that time in the game now.

One that would be tough to work out is the ARC fighter itself. A base one has a 2 att value, but when you read the fluff on it It's main cannon could punch thur a capital ships armor and hull. I think it can be argued that those cannons are gone from the ship by the battle of Endor but if you brought them in as brand new you would need to up their Att value which in turn opens up another whole can of worms. The only way I see Prequel era ships to keep coming into the game is writing fluff to bring in to the civil war era and keep other factions for that time out of it. As for the new ships we'll just have to keep watching and hope the balance the point costs right with the ships currently in the game.

I don't know if any of you have played the Miniature games when Wizards had the franchise at the end of the prequel films be we mixed era ALL the time. Especially when we got characters from the Legacy Comics.

For those of you that dont like mixing the eras, then play games with people that also dont mind making era-specific lists. Heck even do one where you have just TFA ships against a person flying only original trilogy ships, and vice versa, or just stick to the era you like the most.

There are about to be enough TFA era ships for the Resistance and Rebels (especially if you allow the E-wing and K-wing which were in the New Republic era of the EU, and so about the right period) and you've got the shuttle coming for the 1st order so it might work. Yes the lists might be a bit restrictive but maybe you'll be fine with that.

As for me I am currently eagerly waiting for Snap Wele to be released, so I can run Snap and his mom, just like I ran Poe and his mom (Shara Bey) the other day in funny lists, and a list with both Falcons (only 1 will have a title though). But I also look forward to full on Resistance lists, and other lists miing and matching.

So to each their own.

Why?

Your argument was that you liked these movies but not those movies. Not at all a reason to split the game up. Do you have a point, or just trolling?

In a game where you can put Kanan, Biggz and Poe in the same squadron?

Laughable.

ALL HAIL THE GLORY DAYS OF CLONE WARS!

Enforced Time Periods in Imperial Assault are a total failure in an otherwise excellent system. They don't need to ruin X-Wing by trying to implement that here too.

Never heard of it.

Note for people: Even if you don't like the story the ship is from, you might still enjoy the ship.

I primarily remember the IG-2000 from "Therefore I Am: The Tale of IG-88", which is one of the most hilariously awful Star Wars stories ever written (There's a memorable scene where IG-88 pranks the Emperor with a door). But that doesn't stop the Aggressor from being a cool ship.

Similarly, I'm not a fan of Shadows of the Empire, but the Starviper has won me over with its sexy appearance.

I didn't mind the film it was pretty average but not anywhere close to prequels level of terrible.

I don't like the ships though.

Flames of War is cool but there are a lot of reasons it's not as big as X-wing.

I stopped taking this thread seriously when the OP made the claim that the Prequels are better than TFA.

Which was the first post.

Hah, well, just imagine the thought of seeing this baller ass T-70 x-wing on a shelf and then having someone tell you it can only play games with Tie/FOs and Tie/SFs.

Well to be fair you can enforce time periods in X-Wing. That makes Asajj Ventress illegal in all of them though unless you're planning on just running YV-666s and a Z-95 or two.

For example the Headhunter. It was one of the top fighter craft in the Republic at that time performing the same role as the X-wing does in the civil war period.

The Headhunter is that one ship that never really goes away: there are endless variants (the Republic one is just one amongst countless different models) and they're absolutely everywhere. They're even present in the TFA era.

I always have periods stay close... thirty years is close enough in my book. Now Young Ben & Padma fighting with Rey and Poe... NAH.

In wonderful (my version) STAW Kirk has zero business being on a Dominion command ship attacking DS9 with Gul Dukat... yowies!

Just saying. But you guys can do what you want anyhow you like it.

Just don't give your ARC the alliance overhaul. What a fun prequel ship!

Why is FFG mixing two periods of Star Wars???

Two totally different time periods. And they should not be able to mix them, JMHO.

star wars the force awakens was a bad movie, and the prequels are more deserving to be added to the game!!

Step 2: look at your fist

Step 3: punch yourself in the face.
