On a scale of 1-10, how good/bad do you think the Quadjumper and Upsilon Shuttle dials will be?

By Kdubb, in X-Wing

also have to factor in the UPS has 1agi while the Ghost has 0.

While in reality that means jack diddly squat, FFG believes 1agi is far more survivable than 0 agi as weve seen with 0agi prices. Even the Decimator is cheap for its bulk since he has 0 agi, but imperials dont have any cheap crew to put on it so it kinda gets shelved alot. Heck even when i run RAC i find myself just going mara jade + palp because theres NOTHING else to put in those crew slots the decimator can use lol (that isnt an overpriced PoS)

He meant the k-turn actually. And yeah, at least one white hard turn will be needed to make upsilon viable. As for k-turn though? Look at YV-666. Can it hard turn? Yeah. Can it stop? Yeah. Can it turn around? No. Is it viable with a good usage of it's crew slots? Absolutely.

well, YV has a 180 arc too

UPS trades that in for another die on the primary weapon, which will probably make it far less useful overall;

but that's where the coordinate action comes into play, ain't it ;)?

Actually a lot of people have serious trouble flying the shuttle for damage. It is simply amazing. You see these supposedly "good" players, who literally have no idea they could have so much extra damage if they actually did it right. which they dont.

Shuttle is amazing. Flying a shuttle perfectly is like slow dancing a lady. And dodging all the motherføkkers stumbling on the floor.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Upsilon had no stop and no turns at all. It has such a good statline, that its going to have a terrible dial, worse than the Lambda

it has a green 2 bank revealed. my bet is a much better dial than the lambda just by having white 2 turns alone, but no stop

jumpers dial will be insane bc it goes backwards

Slow dancing...we clearly know very different women, my kind of girl likes going at it hard and fast.

dancing fat lady.

But in all seriousness the lambda DOES have good offense, and i laugh when palpaces just have it permabumping in a corner.

its just so bloody hard to get it to turn!! without using half the board i mean

Upsilon: Somewhere between the YV-666 and the Decimator.

Quad, probable: All speed 1s, and a red 1 straight reverse. Straight 3 with nothin' faster.

Quad, hopeful: Speed 1 straights and banks, reverse 1 straights and banks, and a Stop. Because that would be truly glorious. <3

I actually think that if the upsilon is less than 30 points it will have a dial worse than the shuttle. Perhaps no stops, possible no 1-banks.

I hope the QUadjumper has a variant which jumps around like Echo.

I give the quadjumper a -1 (for reverse) :P

So I've been thinking about what the dials might look like for the wave 10 ships. Reb Tie we know obviously (unless they really throw us for a loop), but it seems like the Quadjumper and Upsilon Shuttle will have pretty interesting dials if we are to take anything away from the preview.

The Upsilon shuttle, which seems in a lot of ways to be a glorified Lambda shuttle, has a green 2 bank according to the article. This seems really surprising to me. I almost expected it to have a dial as bad or worse than the Lambda... Ok, worse is pretty much impossible, but with its statline, upgrade selections, and cost, it seems like the dial will need to be pretty poor.

The Quadjumper, with the first potential reverse maneuver, may end up being one of the craziest dials yet. But I also have a feeling it is going to have a lack of green maneuvers and maybe even be missing a turn.

I would guess the shuttle will be a 2 on a scale of 1-10, and the Quadjumper will be a solid 6.

What do you think?

I hear the quad jumper will have a special dial. Each manoeuvre will be represented by the new "troll face" icon.

It will never do much, but it will roflcopter it's way around the battlefield.

Possibly with the condition that the player has to make "weeeeeeee" noises while doing so.

I wonder less about what the Upsilon shuttle's dial will be like and more about the shenanigans that its coordinate action will bring to the battlefield. The ability for a lower PS ship to coordinate a boost or barrel roll on a higher PS ship will create many new scenarios on existing ships.
