On a scale of 1-10, how good/bad do you think the Quadjumper and Upsilon Shuttle dials will be?

By Kdubb, in X-Wing

So I've been thinking about what the dials might look like for the wave 10 ships. Reb Tie we know obviously (unless they really throw us for a loop), but it seems like the Quadjumper and Upsilon Shuttle will have pretty interesting dials if we are to take anything away from the preview.

The Upsilon shuttle, which seems in a lot of ways to be a glorified Lambda shuttle, has a green 2 bank according to the article. This seems really surprising to me. I almost expected it to have a dial as bad or worse than the Lambda... Ok, worse is pretty much impossible, but with its statline, upgrade selections, and cost, it seems like the dial will need to be pretty poor.

The Quadjumper, with the first potential reverse maneuver, may end up being one of the craziest dials yet. But I also have a feeling it is going to have a lack of green maneuvers and maybe even be missing a turn.

I would guess the shuttle will be a 2 on a scale of 1-10, and the Quadjumper will be a solid 6.

What do you think?

I would like the Quad to have lots of low-speed options...but maybe nothing other than a 3 forward...the thing is designed for twisting and turning in orbital yards, picking stuff up and plonking it down...it should turn on a dime, but those engines are built for power, not speed...

...and I really hope there's more than one reverse speed, or the option to boost in reverse if EU is fitted.

EDIT: Forgot the score,,,but I suspect the dial will be completely the opposite, so I'm expecting about a 3/10

the quadjumper's will be worth...one whole portion

I'm guessing the upsilon will be like the VCX-100. Not amazing, but it'll have to be able to keep its guns on target because it's too expensive to only be a clumsy support ship.

man the chances of the UPS shuttle having a 5k are about the same as me ever triggering Braylen's ability

current record is 6 ******* rounds before he remembered he didn't just have flavor text on his card <_<

it's a YV stat-line with a 4 dice primary instead of an aux arc, expect a dial to match

On a scale from 1 to 10, I think it is 2 soon to tell

I will be pretty mad if the Ups has a bad dial and/or no k-turn. I'm pretty tired of seeing rebel freighters with amazing dials.

Hell, Decimator doesn't get one either. What is it now with letting the Falcon sloop, Dash have multiple k-turns and BR, Ghosts with Evade and 1 hard turns.

Seriously. What? Stop it FFG!

In fact, I'll be really mad if the Ups doesn't have a k-turn. Lothal Rebel with 4 dice and TURRET and SYSTEM is 35 points. If the Ups is even 28 (its probably 30) with only one arc, i'll be pretty mad.

the upsilon shuttle is a better lambda dial

The quadjumpper dial is -1/10 ;)

I hope the upsilon has a similar/slower dial than the lambda. Otherwise we've just found the new palp-mobile and one with 4 attack...

5 and 5

Wait. What if it can tractor beam obstacles? 10!

I mean, I think it is pretty hard to argue against all the ones.

6. No wait. . .3. Maybe 9. Dang, could be we should just wait until they come out so that this is a useful conversation.

slower would be better for palp. I kinda hope its like the lambda dial but no 0 stop, white hard 2s, red 3 hard, white 3-4 straight, green 1 straight &banks

I wouldn't be surprised if the Upsilon had no stop and no turns at all. It has such a good statline, that its going to have a terrible dial, worse than the Lambda

This is what I expect — it trades away its stop maneuver for a few more green maneueverd and white turns, so it's not impossible to turn around. I'll be even more pleased if it keeps the stop maneuver and winds up with a dial like the YV-666. I really don't expect it to have any sort of K-turn/S-loop/Talon Roll, but the Force Awakens ships have all had some pretty slick maneuvers — even a 5 K-turn on this beast would be amazing, and I'd be really stoked if that's the case.

*Sees base Ghost costs more than named pilot PS 6 Upsilon Shuttle*

Ya, Upsilon shuttle wont have a K-turn.

Let's be conservative and say that the Upsilon has a dial exactly like the shuttle, except with green 2 banks instead of white ones.

Assuming a 28 point cost for the PS 2 Upsilon, you're getting a better Palp Shuttle.

Stop whining, greedy Imperial players, it will probably have a set of white turns because it's "too expensive to be a clumsy support ship". Because Palp Aces takes a lot of skill and needed a buff, isn't that right Blail Berg? I knew there was a reason you hate large bases and love small bases so much, you're just a greedy Palp Aces player.

Re the quadjumper dial: Has there been any confirmation that it can go backwards? Because while that's certainly a possibility, it seems to have been accepted very quickly. But if all we know is the "six white manoeuvres" mentioned in the article then that could be:

Speed 1 turns forward, banks forward, straight forward, straight reverse, or

Speed 1 banks forward, straight forward, banks reverse, straight reverse, or

Speed 1 turns forward, banks forward, straight forward plus 1K.

Don't get me wrong, I'm keen for backwards motion. That's a cool new niche. But the1K would also bea (near) first (certainly a first for a generic) without requiring any new mechanics or anything. Has there been an announcement I've missed, or some lore about the Quadjumper flying backwards, or are we all just hoping for reverse movement?

Quad will most likely rival HWK at the title WORST DIAL EVER

and Shuttle will have a dial akin to VCX

Having 6 choices at speed 1 sounds perfect to me. Though I'm just expecting straight, banks, turns, K rather than reverse. Wouldn't say no, though!

I think it's largely based upon a reference card in the announcement picture with a heading of "Reve(r?)......", and the idea that it should be slow but very manoeuvrable...if it doesn't allow reverse, I'd be disappointed with only 6 speed 1 options

Quad gets all the speed 1 forwards, stop, 1 straight reverse, all the speed 2s, 3 banks and straights, and maybe a 4 straight. It would be interesting for it to have no 4 straight but boost, like the Punisher. I'm expecting it to have a low speed K turn/sloop/troll as well.

Upsilon will have a slightly better dial than the Lambda but still be ungainly, I hope.

I too Hope it gets reverses. I'd even record the BEEEP BEEEEP BEEEEEP sounds trucks make when reversing.

and play it when it does. xD

and bank reverse.
