UK Nationals end of day 1 (bad for Rebels)
Scum and Imperial dominance. FFG better do something for Rebels soon.
The UK is all about that base, apparently.
I think Black Market Sliver will definetively shift the balance to the scum site. Then maybe some rebel squads will follow (bit better they get their own Anti-PTL weapon)
rebels have their own anti-PTL weapon, it's called r3-a2
they don't have an anti-torp scout weapon

*Medium* base

Except for Wes Janson. And PS 4 Ordnance carriers. And VCX-100s ...
That's kinda nuts even by the standards of the current meta. Is it just a regional thing where less people in the UK play Rebels?

Wes works OK, but the other two are hardly viable in the current meta. And they're not direct counters anyway.

The British commonwealth playing as a faction named "Empire?"
.....nope, no connection there.

Uboats are irritatingly popular in the UK which largely shafts rebels. I really hope something is done about that list before wave 9 hits.
How many Wes/corran/Biggs there were present?
UK has always been more focused on what's hot in the meta then actually doing different lists. I wouldn't use their results to gauge much of anything.

I made it in with mindlinked Kavil, Palob and Manaroo, so stick that in your pipe and smoke it (just like I'm about to get smoked today, most likely)
Kavil, palob and manarooo is a meta list... it has been around doing fine at least since the system opens.
I'm more curious about how many corran/wes/Biggs were present since they easily prey on an imperial meta
jesus... dunno how you call 19 imp builds to 10 scum builds "split". Imps have nearly double the players than scum, who conversely have over triple the players that Rebels have. Imperials in that nationals have over 6 times the amount of players in the top 32 than Rebels.
That's absolutely asinine for a nationals level event.

I think we played each other ![]()
Whisper 2x Deltas, I got crushed though by palob and kavil, your play your list well. ![]()
good luck today!

I've seen similar lists. I didn't say all from there, but, a good majority of event reports from the past 3 years show that the top cut in UK nationals have been cut/paste lists. I don't mind it, but I also don't think it's a good metric to choose to show where the meta is. Hell a good majority of the California regional top cuts where omega/yorr/whisper, literal copy paste. Else where in the states though you got a much wider variety. Even the series season saw a bit more variety. But alas, I honestly don't care if for the first time since the release of the game that rebels aren't dominating the top cuts.
Well, we just a had regional this weekend in New Zealand with two rebel lists slugging it out in the final. Rebels are fine, people are just not playing them because the internet says they are bad
people are just not playing them because the internet says they are bad
This is exactly the problem with the current UK meta. It relies heavily on the opinions of others (namely the podcasts). It seems in the US, any time a new hot list is discovered that rocks the meta, people either play it, or figure out new and interesting ways to defeat it. Resulting in a more diverse meta (see the top lists from the US nationals the other week).
In the UK however, they read about these lists online and hear about it on the podcasts and suddenly everyone is flying it. Noone tries any experimenting in order to beat it, they just adopt the 'can't beat em, join em' mentality and you end up with Jumpmaster/Imp Aces everywhere. It's the same with what the internet/podcasts declare is a 'bad' ship, they're avoided like the plague.

When 'the Internet' includes the guy that won Worlds 3 times playing Rebels, then there is probably some truth in the Internet's opinion.
The arrogance of Americans and New Zealanders!! I thought XWing was a global community but obviously isolationist feelings are creeping in here too. Maybe a Trump crew card is next!

hanging on in quiet desperation IS the english way

I don't believe that's true. There was a diverse range of lists on day one; several VCX builds, YV-666, Firesprays, Star viper X wings etc. What didn't seem to be represented were B Wings, or Scyks. Pretty much everything else was there and it's a massive generalisation to claim it was all "net listed"
**** me this is one sh*tty meta we've gotten ourselves into.
'Be careful what you wish for' I think applies very strongly here. We just wanted Ordnance to be good. But not this!
EDIT: Also fix the T-65 FFG
