Sith Alchemy - Custom Skill Rules

By Ian2400, in Game Masters

Reading through The Dark Side Sourcebook from the d20 era, I got the idea to add Sith Alchemy as a reward for the adventure I'm currently running, allowing force sensitive characters to train a point in the skill for free using a Sith Holocron, and only allowing the skill to be trained from future sources similar to that, rather than with XP. This just left converting the old d20 rules into edge of the empire rules. Here's my attempt at it, for your critiquing pleasure!

My group happens to have a Sith Holocron, and I have been wracking my brain on exactly how to implement it best. All of my players are on the evil side, so this is absolutely awesome to see! Thanks so much for taking the time to convert this over, I will definitely present them with Sith Alchemy as a skill to potentially use and see what they do with it.

I've made some corrections (should be the same link). A few typos, as well as one critical rule: You can only do an alchemy check on weapons/armor *when they are being crafted*. Utilize the pre-built rules in the official sourcebooks for weapon/armor crafting. I've included page number references.

Hello

Thanks a lot for that !

May I ask you if this kind of ritual is the same the NightSisters used to create Savage Opress ?

I would say no, it doesn't appear that Opress was the victim of alchemy. Something I didn't add, that I could, is that this was used by various sith to create horrible creatures to battle their enemies (such as the Silooth). So you could add to the table the option to increase silhouette by 1 as a hard check.

Ok thanks for the reply. On the other hand, I just watched the episode where Savage is "created". The Sisters actually use their "magick" to modify the body of the Zabrack. We can see his horns growing and his body becoming bigger and more powerful. It seems his hands gets claws as well.

I'd say Savage's mystical "enhancement" is best left as NPC plot device than something that needs rules to be replicated. A GM can simply boost up the characteristics and abilities of an NPC and say that they've been the recipient of dark "magic" or whatever other skin the GM wants to put on it.

I agree. This is mostly for presenting to players a nifty dark side force option.

Thanks for your helpful advices, much appreciated. I think you are right, we shouldn't try to turn everything to rules and numbers finally :)

Made some final adjustments/fixes. Mostly just typos, also adding the option to increase silhouette. This is up on the compiled resources page now and is 'final', though I welcome any further feedback!
