What are good combos?

By Droogy17, in The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game

Sneak attack and Gandalf work well together and so does Galadriel and Unexpected Courage.

Can anyone recommend other good combos.

I'm looking at deck building (rather than copying other people's) and need a couple of starting points.

I have everything up to and including the ring-maker cycle and I have the sagas up to and including Treason of Saruman

Sorry, those are the only two combos. Good luck!

A lot of Outlands guys in your hand + a lot of resources on your heroes is usually a good combo.

Spirit Glorfindel and Light of Valinor is bretty gud tu.

Seriously though, the plethora of combos and interactions in the game is pretty much endless. I guess you'll have to figure them out for yourself, and don't be afraid to look up decks online! You don't have to build them card for card, just find a cool couple cards that work well together or a specific combo and apply them to other decks.

With that said, I think Gríma + Lore Aragorn is one of the best combos in the game, at least in solo.

Protector of Lorien + Elven Light.

Some stuff that pops up in my head:

Elrond + Gloin + 2xCitadel plate + Warden of healing

Sneak attack Beorn (+Merry with (1-3x)Fast hitch)

Boromir (t) + Gondorian Fire/Blood of Numenor

Good Harvest + Steward of Gondor (if you run no Leadership)

Forest Snares/traps and Dunedain (you will Need the Lost realm and Angmar awakend, sorry)

Eomer/Prince Imrahil (L) + Bofur (ally, Spirit)

Noone listed Elrond + Gandalf yet

Hama + feint/thicket of spears

Caldara + Fortune or fate

Happy Deck-Building :)

A Galadriel Silvan deck + Hail of Stones

My favourite at the moment:
To the Sea, Galdor of the Havens hero and Glorfindel/Gildor ally in your starting hand.

Play to the sea for 1, play another card for 1, discard four of the remaining five cards to make either Gildor or Glorfindel cost 1. Play them for 1 and draw a new set of 6 cards with Galdor of the Haven's second ability.

5 cost ally out (as well as To the Sea and something else 1 cost) first turn and a whole new set of cards (if you discarded cards like Elven Light, Glorfindel himself or Lords of the Eldar they are still usable from the discard pile as well).

If nobody mentioned it already Elrond with Vilya and Stargazer is an incredible combo.

Not sure if it would be considered more to be a combo or just voltron-ing up a hero but I absolutely love decking out Elrohir with defensive attachments, sentinel and Steward of Gondor allowing him to defend the vast majority of enemy attacks across the board taking little to no damage in the process.

Aragorn + Roheryn + Anduril (Saga only) + one readying effect allows you to destroy an enemy after you optionally engage it with Roheryn (essentially providing a feint effect because it doesn't ever get to attack) and then you can defend against another enemy and then destroy it with Anduril's ability without an additional readying effect. So one attack (with a feint like effect), one defense and a second attack (three actions) for one readying effect. Pretty sweet deal. Requires a bit of setup but makes Aragorn a murder machine. Throw on Glamdring as well and you draw a card every time he kills an orc. Add more readying or get these cards set up on the new Fellowship Aragorn from The Flame of the West and he can quest (potentially with StwB and Banner of Elendil attached as well!) AND then perform these three actions as well.

I'm just going to list good comboes that have not been mentioned regardless of card set.

Gandalf hero and pipe with Expert Treasure Hunter. Hidden Cache completes the brokenness.

Ranger of Cardolan and Very good Tale. AVGT is just a broken card in general and comboes with everything, but it is crazy broken with the Ranger because of the high printed cost and the action window in the Refresh phase after characters ready but before the Ranger leaves play.

Entangling Nets and Straight Shot

Glorfindel and Asaloth

Boromir and Gondorian Shield

Galadriel and Mirror of Galadriel (and Silver Harp in Angmar Awaked)

Treebeard and Self Preservation

Gimli and Citadel Plate

Beregond, Gondorian Shield, Spear of the Citadel and Unexpected Courage

Arwen hero and Elven Light (both in Angmar Awaked)

I think you need Nenya in your Galadriel/Unexpected Courage combo (as Galadriel can´t "quest" without her ring).

There are too many good combos in this game to list them all, but these were the first ones to pop up in my mind (and that nobody had listed already).

Using Galadriel's normal ability twice in one turn is more than worth it,

Thanks for the responses they will definitely help. I had forgotten about Nenya.

Tomorrow I will build my first deck that hasn't been taken from RingsDB or here

Her ability is limit once per round.

Merry Brand!

A Good Harvest + Steward of Gondor

Born Alost + ally Gladriel to get those attachments!

Sneak attack + White Tower Watchman for undefended attacks with a mono sphere deck!

The tree people + Galadhrim Healer

Beregond + Elf friend + Light of Valinor

Beregond + Elf friend + Light of Valinor

Why would you want to quest with Beregond?

The tree people + Galadhrim Healer

Tree People on Galadhrim Weaver then play Galadhrim Weaver to put Tree People back in the deck for later.

Eowyn combines well with anything that takes advantage of her WP. Herugrim or the Golden Shield can take her WP and turn it into another stat for an attack.

Fair and Perilous can do the same with Cirdan or Glorfindel.

Add Strider in for that +2 WP and get even more of a bonus.

With Strider, I'm thing about making a solo 2 handed deck with one hero with Strider in the first deck and the second deck with two heroes.

Beregond + Elf friend + Light of Valinor

Beregond + Nor I am a stranger + Herugrim

Gondorian Spearman and an enemy with 1 health.

Brok Ironfist + Hail of Stones and an enemy with 1 health in the staging area
