Facing off against an ISD, Demo and 2 Raiders
Kicked ass. The combo of Konstantin, tons of tractor beams and the interdictor sure did a number on the Demo. I used the speed and board control offered by the Grav Well upgrades to use my opponents OWN ISD to block the attack path of his Demolisher and then I slowed it down so all it could do was bump helplessly into his ISD. The enemy reluctance to deploy in the g7 dead zone made his deployment predictable and allowed me to place my rhymerball and gozanti in the path of his raiders. Bomber command was the difference in vapourizing a raider and then being free to park behind the perpetually slowed Gladiator. Gozanti died heroically!
Second Engagement I went all rebel. Didn't save the exact list but it was 2 Libertys (1 of each kind) fairly heavily upgraded with Madine as admiral. Also had a slaved turret salvation neb and a TRC90 with Leia. Experimenting with Quad turbolaser turrets and sensor teams along with spinal armaments. All in all expensive, but god **** guaranteeing 2 accuracies by sacrificing the inevitable red blank meant concentrating fire at medium range from 2 arcs was a terrific thing (especially for when you roll a natural red accuracy which equals an automatic 2 accuracies). Tempted to add Intel officer for ultimate fury-inducing defense denial.
Anyway, opponent was running a similar ISD/Demo + 3 raider motti list as before but also trying the sensor team Quad combo for equally effective token denial. Unfortunately for him he over-extended his demo and thats not a good idea when you are second player and you end up in a Mon Karren double Arc. Highlight of the match was my salvation with concentrate fire and opening salvo dice (total of 7 reds) rolling a grand total of 3 damage at a raider (and this is with buoyancy tested dice). Anyway I almost tabled opponent only losing the ill-fated Neb (he deserved to die) and leaving only his motti raider
Opponent was surprised by a liberty pulling off a speed 2 || || manouver to put his second last raider in arc. Was fun!
Last match I went back to the good guys, Ran a crazy "Interdictor shield battery" build (also didn't save the list but will recreate).
This one was crazy fun. Using projection experts and Wulf on an interdictor along with targeting scramblers and G8s. ISD in full christmas-tree mode and devastator title including Needa and TRCs to deliberately chuck the evade token before closing (maintaining die count) and guaranteeing Tagge had something to contribute at the start of turn 3, also a full-upgrade demolisher.
Let me tell you, when you can send an ISD 2 shields, recover them again and be left with engineering points to shore up your own its an interesting experience.
Anyway the idea is the interdictor hangs just back of the ISD and does the old slow-down game to keep things in that nasty Devastator front arc while feeding it shields, throwing nothing but engineering and demo flanks at the least opportune moment. Targeting scramblers also help devastator or if lucky demolisher when defending making it an exceedingly tanky list that still hits like a truck.
Opponent was running 3 TRC90s and Mon Karren with 3 As and 3 Bs. the opponent made the mistake of choosing minefields and his mon karen was down 5 hull points and was sporting a depowered armaments before it even got in combat. 1 shot from the christmas-tree Devastator finished it off, demo ate 2 90's as they tried to shoot past the ISD and the ISD got the last one. Interdictor died to a very nice medium range front arc from defense token denial setup MC80 followed by some TRC90 shots and a Bwing.
All in all I had an extreme amount of fun with the new wave stuff. I feel it adds several dimensions to the game and it feels super-fresh again.
