Vorakesh - Story?

By Chimonas, in Runebound

I just wondered - in the 'Vorakesh' story arc it's written that Vorakesh uses a magic that differs from the magic of Waiqar. Is that because Vorakesh is summoning zombies?

Independ of that - is this Vorakeshs first time in the Rune(bound)verse or has he already appeared somewhere else before?

I'm by no means a runeverse expert, but noticed that Vorakesh's rise to power is (at least) mentioned briefly in the Heirs of Blood Descent-campaign that I'm currently playing.

And when I say briefly, it's basically just used to help explain the resurrection of Alric Farrow (unless later quests goes deeper into that story, which I doubt).

I think he was in descent at some point.

Oha, but you.can't remember in which story arc/expansion?

Vorakesh was a main baddie in the original Runebound, as well (and he's going to be in the RuneWars miniatures game). I don't *think* he's ever appeared in Descent beyond the blurb in Heirs of Blood, unless it was one of the first edition campaigns. In the previous Runebound, Vorakesh wanted to resurrect Margath (which is strange since Margath is the "beginners" scenario in this edition). He had a host of servants like his wife Lady Vorakesh, the Farrows (much more prominent in Descent), Sir Vyleen, etc.

I'm not really sure how his magic differs from Waiqar's, though.

Waiqar uses a dark oath to bind dead to his will, creating strong undead soldiers, while Vorakesh uses a disease to turn people into zombies, creating fear and numbers, even if the zombies are fairly weak.
