My take on the U-Wing

By Odanan, in X-Wing

Since everybody is doing their homebrew U-Wing expansions, here is mine (WIP):

x_wing_miniatures_game___custom_ship_car

This is to make it more versatile:

x_wing_miniatures_game___custom_upgrade_

And this is for fun:

x_wing_miniatures_game___custom_upgrade_

(put on the space suit and shoot those bastards!)

Need some crew cards for the Rogue One guys.

Work in Progress , so costs and stats CAN (and probably will) be changed.

Feedback and suggestions are welcome.

With the door gunners I'd like to see the U-wing be the first ship with side firing arcs only and no front arc.

BTW, the ship has frontal guns, so it can't be side firing arcs only.

Punisher stats, fewer upgrades, no boost... What would the dial look like? I think it's overcosted already.

The trailer inspired me to do a Vader Down redo IMP%2BLORD%2BDARTH%2BVADER%2BBAMF.PNG of my old Vader IMP%2BLORD%2BDARTH%2BVADER.png ... gonna be a lot of fun coming from this film I bet!

:D

Or make it the first 270 firing arc.

Or make it the first 270 firing arc.

I would have loved a 270 arc from the JumpMaster. It would have made a lot of sense to put a blind spot on the far side of the hull from the turret.

Nice card!

Thoughts:

Agi 2! I mean if the YT-2400 and Firespray have it, come on... It should have higher agi than the ARC and Y-wing. Maybe take a hull away. Also, I would vote for some side arcs to be added. I think it could also use a system slot.

As long as I'm dreaming, I want a native boost and a sweet dial as well.

Well of course it can. The Defender has a gazillion frontal guns but only attack 3. Game play > simulation.

But, realistically, you're right -- FFG won't deliver this ship without a frontal arc. Maybe a 4-cost door gunner crew that activates side arcs, though, kind of like the Ghost special rear arc.

My thought was 3 crew and side arcs that only work if you have an empty crew slot per arc you want to use. A ship with just the rear arc empty would be cool.

I don't think a manually aimed light blaster is worth treating as a threat to fighters. Cool concept, but not worth creating new rules.

The thing is: FFG escalated their game in such way that they need to create new rules and mechanics for the new ships. U-Wing and TIE Striker would be very boring if translated to the game as they are.

The Defender has 4 lasers, and 2 ion cannons, and then two missile /torpedo ports....not a gazillion guns

And obviously guns =/= firepower in game, but if you look, most other ships with 4 lasers of similar power tend to be 3 attack ships.

I for one, am not looking forward to opening the side doors... IN SPACE! Ive seen that happen in a lot of movies, and it never works out well. Even with space suits. This is why most ships dont have space suited crew popping the top hatch of their YT-1300 and hanging out and shooting their rifles. Seems a bit Space-Redneck to me.

Well, realism was never a factor in Star Wars...

They've got some mechanics coming in the next couple of waves that I'm really excited to see explored further.

Jyn Erso - Crew

After performing an attack, if the defender was dealt a faceup Damage card, assign it the "Stolen Plans" condition card.

Stolen Plans - Condition

During the planning phase, your dial must be assigned first and is placed faceup.

Question: how come the base ship is two points more than a Lambda?

Idea for door gunner rather than a range 1 terror.

Action: choose an enemy ship at range 1. That ship cannot acquire or spend focus or evade tokens this turn.

Guns does translate to fire power. For nearly all small ships 2=2, 3/4=3 and 5=4
