How do the TIE decals work.
Do they save must time
are they easy to use
do you have to cut then or are they preset to fit
is there a video of them being applied

I don't know if I have seen anyone who used the third party decals that they sell on ebay and the like. I did some decal work on my ships, using decals from a different star wars mini game, and I do have to say it was pretty tough to get it to look good, but your mileage with the tie decals may vary.

I'll submit that the decals available on ebay work VERY well.
The TIE decals can be applied as one piece. The interior wing panel decals are one piece that have a hole punched in the center to fit around the wing armature. They are pretty easy to apply and extra decals are provided in case a few get messed up.
It looks like the decals for the Rebel expansion II are also now available and I have it on good authority that the Imperial Squadron II decals will be available as soon as this weekend. Complete with an awesome cloak look for Whisper and your regular TIE phantoms.
Edited by urloonyCan anyone post some pics of decals on their TIEs please?
I shiver reflexively whenever someone mentions that....
Totally prefer paint then trying to line and smooth all of those decals... THAT would drive me insane. More so than flick-painting straight lines, so more power to those who do it! It’s kust not for me.
Flick-painting? Enlighten us @Drasnighta

Load a lot of paint onto your brush and literally "flick" it where you're trying to paint. It's also called splatter painting.

It’s probably actually called something else. I use a stupidly long thin bristled brush, line up, and flick it across. Nice, quick, straight. Saves having to carefully draw slowly with shaky hands.
See “So you want to paint a tie fighter.” Thread for more details ?

Sure, here are my TIE decals and TIE phantom decals. It really doesn't take that long. You slide the decals on and you're done. Use a little Microset and that holds in it place. Honestly it's really the interior wings that need the decals. Painting the panel lines by hand is a nightmare and it's always uneven and looks like a brush stroke.
Maybe some TIE defenders...
Thanks!
Can anyone state what paint colour the TIEs should be? Is there an equivalent games workshop colour that would match? Being a store I could locate relatively easy.
And does anyone have a link to the decals for sale?

I think GW's Dawnstone is almost a perfect match for the lighter Imperial gray and Mechanicus for the darker.
@Drasnighta can tell you exactly what colors to use and he has a how to paint TIEs tutorial on here somewhere.

Straight up, yes, Mech std. for dark, dawn for lighter. However, if you are intending to shade with Nuln Oil, it’s best to go lighter I feel... Dawnstone for dark, Administratum for lighter.
its all step by step above

I knew you could post a link faster than I would be able to find it.

Sometimes FFG take down links. If you search ebay for "Star Wars Armada decals" you will find them.
