Ok, admit it everyone. That shot of the X-Wings taking out the Walker is what we've been waiting for since ESB in 1980. Be honest.
Oh, and that shot of the X-Wings banking over Mon Cal Cruiser is just brilliant.
I'm struggling to contain my expectations for this film.
We're getting the most iconic starfighters shown off with modern technology. It looks STUNNING .
U Wing looks like it has a Ion Turret / Ion side Gunner.
Now that would be an interesting crew upgrade .. after you perform a primary weapon attack out of your primary arc, you may perform this attack. The target must be out side your primary firing arc.
2 red dice
Ion effect
Nice catch, I bet FFG miss their chance to make a tie-in upgrade.

Oh goodness. That looks incredible. The child in me who would sit in front of the TV surrounded by Star Wars toys while watching the original trilogy on VHS over and over is freaking out.
X-Wings must have much stonger laser cannons than snowspeeders then
Or else the cargo walkers are less heavily armored which I guess makes sense since their main role isn't combat.
That blue laser shot...could be an ion cannon...would it freeze the legs somehow? Could just be a blue laser as well, since they are used in episodes 2, 3, and 7.
For the space battle, it's looking like a handful of xwings are leading the charge through the shield opening with the u-wings following behind them. The rest I think are trying to take out as many guns as possible on the space station so the team can get back out later. Unfortunately looks like the station is carrying many squads of ties and has a docked star destroyed so I'm guessing the rebel fleet is mostly wiped out by the end.
Edited by markcsoul"WHERE WERE THOSE ON HOTH!" still applies.
Escaping with the fleet most likely. It was a retreat action, so it makes sense that they would just delay them as long as possible.

I don't think that's a Mon Cal Cruiser, actually. That looks like some of the civilian transports that have been showing up a lot in Rebels.
Here are the two I'm thinking it resembles:
http://starwarsrebels.wikia.com/wiki/GX1_Short_Hauler
http://starwarsrebels.wikia.com/wiki/Taylander_Shuttle
It's not a perfect match for either, but it seems to be along the same design lines. In particular, that fin jutting out from the bottom would be a big departure from the Mon Calamari designs I'm familiar with, anyway.
It's not one of those, it has a veeery long ventral "fin", you can see it in other shots

Jedha, Jakku, Tatooine, ...It is Jedha, a new planet.
So in this galaxy far far way three out of ten
planets (so to speak) are desert planets? sheesh.
Well you know, Global warming and all got out of hand and created planet sized deserts.

That shot of the X-wing flying past the ATAT... looks like a PARTISAN. Or is that blue?
Edited by dewbie420I'd say blue.
The wings should have more of the black color and the engibes and the area directly below the canopy should be black.

There's less black on the wings, but if they have just the one then it's this one the crashed.
I would guess that it is Partisan but they don't have just the one black and white design.
The very fact that you can see black on the wing suggests another black and white design, therefore Partisan.
A few more tidbits to be found here:
And here:
Including the best Red Squadron has to offer, Biggles and Porkins!
And Biggles' X-wing (Red Three):
New TV spot shows us the Blue Two X-wing doing a aileron roll (not a barrel roll):
I want to say that I'm so glad about the attention to details. In TFA, keeping up with the laziness theme of the movie, all the T-70s, except for the special snowflake, which by the way is just the standard paintjob with inversed colours, were identical, designers didn't bother to check what the stripes on the wings mean. Here it seems each fighter is unique and the markings work as intended.

So, not a TFA fan then?
Do you have anything to support your claim?
Yeah, like... the movie?
Each X-wing has 5 stripes because the most popular X-wing in ANH, Luke's, had 5 stripes.
And Poe's X-wing in negative:
So, because the X-wings (which are military issue by the way) have the same number of stripes, it's a bad movie.
And what I meant by proof was explaining that this was lazy and actually made a difference to the overall effect of the moive. Because I sure as hell didn't bother counting the stripes in the movie.
Maybe the five stripes are actually in honor of Luke Skywalker in the same way the First Order wear armbands (more bracelets) that have the names of famous Imperial Officers in Aurabesh? I love how you assume its automatically lazy design work...smh whatever though.

Nice strawman. I didn't say TFA is a bad movie, let alone because of the stripes.
I provided the proof that the meaning behind stripes, which is present in R1, wasn't there in TFA (what is that about the "military issue"? X-wings in ANH and Rogue... aren't military?), because that was the point of my previous post, but I see you don't actualy want any proof about anything, just want to argue.
I'd gladly complain about copied script, designs and locations, but this thread is not about TFA.
Edited by eMeMYou heavily implied it's a bad movie, it's a legitimate assumptions based on your posts, as you'd also complain about script, design and location.
You did provide proof of the stripes, but not that it was anything to do with lazy design or filming. It's one thing to like or dislike uniformity, but to blame it on people being lazy is a little unfair.
As for military issue, you're right, in ANH hope they're not. But in TFA, the T70's are ex-military supplied by the republic to the resistance due to their tacit support against the First order.
