ROGUE ONE TRAILER

By gabe69velasquez, in X-Wing

is that Donnie Yen in the trailer?

are...are we getting martial arts jedi?

because that could be the sickest **** ever

and is it wrong that I'm far more hype for this than I was for the Force Awakens?

this is a side of star wars we've never ever seen before...I'm on ******* board!

Yes, that is Donnie Yen. No, he is not a Jedi, just someone who follows a Jedi related religion.

meh

who needs lightsabers or the force when you can just beat troopers up with your bare hands! (and occasionally a stick)

I would imagine that his being a badass is independent of his religion. I mean, it sounds like something very similar to the Church of the Force that Lor San Tekka and those Jakku villagers belonged to, and none of them were able to destroy a squad of Stormtroopers with a stick. I would presume that Donnie Yen's character has some degree of Force sensitivity to be able to fight blind like that, just not on the same level as an actual Jedi.

Not everyone who is capable of fantastic feats has to be force sensitive. The Olympics are going right now, and unless you want to convince me these hundreds of mind-shatteringly skilled athletes are force sensitive, I'd like to think good old fashioned hard work, dedication, and practice can lead to awe-inspiring capabilities.

There's still the fact that he's blind . A blind man surely has something special going on to be able to clobber a whole squad of armed soldiers while using just a stick.

ftfy.

Lord, I can't believe I just did that.

Hopes restored. After an odd low point where I had gotten kinda "meh" about this movie... (honestly the ship designs didn't help), I am once more fickly exicted. (I created a new word also).

And yes, the score helped a lot.

Also I find I'm no longer disinclined to appreciate CG work... I mean all those long shots of ISD's were very evocative for me... perhaps TFA was the Prequel Palate cleanse I needed. Bring on the CGI, as long as it's good... (I know, TFA was overloaded with digital... it just.. y'know)

is it carrying a doll?

Yup. Something tells me that it's the site of a terrorist attack against an Imperial Loyal world, and the doll was found in the rubble. Probably trying to humanize the Empire and show that not all rebels are good.

Maybe the Deathtroopers get homseick of their white armor and so bring dollies with them.

Or perhaps the Emiire drops small Stormtrooper Dolls to citien to try to make the citiens feel that the Empire is sending thoghts and prayers to ease their plight...also good propaganda. "The Empire loves us so much they gave us stuffed stormtroopers, beats those evil little teddy bears that try to kill us on other planets. "

You know what would be awesome? If those Death Troopers are the Impification (new word!) of Republic Commandos. They could give a Delta Squad Cameo and make a RepCom movie!

That's an imperial child care specialist on his way to care for the child of a single mother, first they'll have a tea party then there's paintball in the afternoon.

See, I was wrong, I assumed it was on treads, but the description says hover tank.

Copying in from the other thread:

Anyone noticed? The WorldWar I style thingy we discussed when trailer 1 came out, is not just a transport, it actually is a tank with guns!

1:22 its firing.

Not at home, have to look at this thing a bit more closel frame by frame.

For a hover tank it is REALLY low-going.

I don't like it, all the shaking makes for a very unconvincing repulsor vehicle and makes it look like it's made of cartboard.

It looks fantastic, real fan service going on but without being overly constrained. I love the swashbuckling nature of it all; reminds me of how some of the Star Wars RPG stuff plays out in people's heads.

Bravo Disney!

Imperial Psychologist Corps: "Show me on the doll where the Rebel terrorist touched you."

I didn't notice the doll in the trailer, what time does it appear?

I like the idea that it might possibly move away from the monolithic evil for the empire that George Lucas was so keen on.

Excuse me...but...I'm going to need fresh underwear now.

Man that hovering star destroyer is good.

I've been musing as to why I think so many of us are so pumped for this film... And I think it's because it's the movie version of the Star Wars we played as kids.

My brothers and I - plucky snubfighter pilots all of us - with my best mate the Rebel Spy, and his sister the Smuggler - we stole the Death Star plans ourselves a thousand times in a thousand different ways. None of us were ever Jedi; we were ordinary people out to fight the Empire. We fought alongside the movie heroes but wanted to create our own.

And this is what this film is; Gareth Edwards said itself in the BTS footage: It's the kids who played with Star Wars figures as kids being given the tools and resources to make the movie of the games they played themselves all those years ago.

YES, this, all of THIS!

Doing some frame-by-frame-forwarding, this thing really looks like being in contact with the ground, with some kind of track. Do not think its a hover-tank.

Makes perfect sense to me. In the real world, armored vehicles in cities don't move any faster than their infantry escorts, because without friendlies on foot to keep an eye out for mines/IEDs, hidden infantry with antitank weapons, or even crazy fools with molotov cocktails, said tank is DEAD. We know that Star Wars as a setting is similarly awash in light antiarmor weapons, be they shoulder-launched rockets, thermal detonators, overly aggressive teddy bears, or even idjits with more lightsabers and grapple sticks than brain cells, so it makes perfect sense for them to adopt similar tactics in confined areas. Go slow, stay secure.

I really like the tank trooper helmets, too. Perfectly capturing the SW Aesthetic whilst still being novel.

You boys and girls ready for the epic glory?

:)

Is Vader holding a multi-tool? suppose he needs it to get plutonium to keep his suit working.

And with how often he gets in dog fights he needs plenty of iron to make new panels.

Also, has he just killed a bunch of stormies? What's that drawing from?

It's not a doll, guys. Death troopers are just HUGE.
