Have a very short time to make a list for a tournament next weekend. 16 player tourney. Need help deciding my Defenders' loadout.

Currently thinking this-

Vessery w/Adaptability, SD, x7

Ryad w/PTL, SD, x7

Omega Leader w/Juke, Comm Relay

Thoughts? Should I take Vess with Tractor Beam or drop Stealth on Ryad for an Ion?

I'd trade SD for Juke on Vess. And probably give Ryad's to OL, but that's just my preference. Ryad really, really wants the Twin Ion Engine mod, though.

Vessery will be the prime target it's not a bad idea to have the SD on him.

Thinking now of having Vess with VI, SD, x7 and Ryad with PTL, MKII, and x7. Gives me a 1pt bid.

X7 and SD work well together and vessery will be the prime target so protecting hims a good idea.

I would drop both stealth devices, give vess juke and ryad engine upgrade.

SD and EU are both viable, for different reasons: extra die vs re-positioning potential. I think it depends on your preferred game style.

SD is good, but one hit and you loose it. EU - you keep till you loose the ship.

The Tie D has great action economy with the x7 title: you can turtle up with and evade and a focus behind three green dice. Pretty tanky as is. I can see EU be really, really good on Ryad.

She takes a 3+ move, gets an evade. Takes a focus then PTLs for a target lock, boost or barrel roll. That's almost Soontir level action economy.

SD is good on x7's because you have both a focus and evade to stop damage, I've flown a triple x7 and not taken a single hit all game.

On a basic defender or a /D SD is rubbish.

Used the second list-

Vessery w/VI, SD, x7

Ryad w/PTL, MKII, x7

Omega Leader w/Juke, Comm Relay

Wound up going 2-2 in a 9-man tournament, 4th place overall. Won against a Dengaroo and Phantom/Defender/TAP, lost to another Dengaroo and Vader/Vessery/OL. The players I lost to turned out to be the 1 and 2 of the tourney.

I didn't feel bad about the losses, as the Dengaroo loss was an extremely competitive game that came down to Vessery and Dengar on 1 Hull each- I just couldn't sneak in that last damage, but for the first round of the tournament it was extremely fun and challenging. The other loss was due in part to bad initial setup by me (splitting Ryad off to one side as a flanker) and having Vader get into Range 1 of Vessery to pop off prockets, in addition to being paired against Asa of BTD who is a very experienced flyer and the overall champion.

Overall, best tournament result I've had so far, with some minor piloting tweaks I feel that this list is definitely in a good position for a competition. I want to thank Haunted Game Café in Ft. Collins and all my opponents- Lee (Dengaroo loss), Ricky (Imp win), Garret (Dengaroo win), and Asa (Imp loss). All were very fun to play against and I couldn't have had more fun.
