Rebel squadrons

Oh boy, a 1v1 challenge from Lyraeus for Vassal! How could I say "no" to that lose-lose scenario?!

If I win, I have to deal with a potentionally rage-complaining Lyr offering a ton of reasons and explanations as to why it happened but shouldn't have. Or else I lose and have to endure the gloating. Neither seem worth spending three hours.

Just do a game with someone else that is Vassal savy and willing to spare the time:

Have them play something like a basicTRC Mothma Swarm, with 2400s sprinkled to taste. This is the sort of match-up that makes B-Wings a big liability.

Sounds like you have it all planned out. Whats the problem?

Just ignore squadrons altogether and blow up their ships and you win. Squadrons are a waste!

Maybe that first thing I said?

I mean, the argument was on Firesprays vs B-Wings but hey, do what you want.

I wont complain win or lose, just make it a great game. If I win then it proves that B-Wings are not that much of a liability so why should I brag?

Silly AllWings, I think you see me as a mystical no fun monster.

Hey, you want to make an assertion that numbers are inconsequential and that this is a game on a table. So I am giving you that option to prove your assertion. Make me believe ^_^

Naw dude... I LIKE the ships themselves. Just saying I don't like their particular implementation in Armada. I love me some B-Wings most of all, it's always been my favorite ship in the Star Wars Universe (aside of the good old Falcon of course), but I think X-Wing does them way more justice. Armada for ME, is all about Star Destroyers, big nasty fleets, tactical movement, slow moving hulks of steel, moving slowly toward each others, preparing for a Juggernaut vs Juggernaut battle royal!

But the squadrons seem out of place in this game for me. I know folks who feel differently, and that's fine - this is just my personal opinion related to the gameplay. I guess I just think of Armada as a Naval Warfare game. Imagine Battleships and Aircraft carriers - but then you have these tiny little guys riding dolphins on round bases?

EDIT - and it's also the point cost of the whole thing. If I do a true squadron based list, and have somewhere around 100 points of squads - that seriously impacts my ability to build a ship-based list. I like lists with LOTS of activations. Squadrons seriously hinder my ability to get more than 4 activations in a list, AND have that list be good.

It's only lose-lose if you make it that way. You could go into thinking, hey I can prove myself correct. OR if proven wrong I learn something new and then become a better player. Any attitude on the other players part should be their problem. Not yours. No one is saying you have to date Lyraeus.

You do hit on how I think about the situation. It is a learning experience.

Cant say I did not try. . . I gave Allwings the chance to back his assertion up enough but I guess it just was not that strong.

Don't you have another topic on the forums basically asking people for help and tips with how make you a better member of your community? Things like this just make you come across as arrogant and a ****.

Just pull 'em out and see whose is bigger already. Jeez Louise.
