Chains that Rust or Store Shelves that Rust?

By Mordliss, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

So this was up for pre-sale st Gen Con which means it's ready to be sold... Why are they not releasing it now? We are entering another weekend that Chains hasn't hit store shelves now and I'd really like to dive into an undead themed campaign, but refuse to start mists until I have the complete campaign!!

Anyone have any idea on release date? What are your thoughts?

if you start now on the first half, its safe to say the 2nd will be released before you get to it.

I wouldn't count on that. For example, last year, they pre-released various games at GenCon that took more than 3+ months to get onto store shelves.

Not saying this will be the case with Chains, but it has happened in the past.

You wouldn't get to use the hybrid-classes.

I would assume they are still shipping

Like I said in the other thread, my store here said August 15th, so it's close

They just posted announcements for stuff today (12) and not a single word on Chains that Rust.....

There is that issue. Better wait.

Doubt the stores will have it by the 15 as status is still "on the boat"

I'd pay real money (a small amount) to see the sales of Mists and Chains over time. I'm really curious to see the bump Mists will get from the release of Chains. I personally have no interest in waiting (already have Mists) but it seems a number of people do.

I am, for example. I've been holding off getting Mists of Bilehall so I can run Mists of Bilehall + The Chains that Rust as one big undead-themed campaign (and I'm getting some H&M Collections too, and deliberately not using some undead-ish monsters in our current games).

When we do start the campaign, my heroes are going to go up against mostly unknown monsters, and a Servant, to boot. Looking forward to blindsiding them with Crow Hags and Wraiths, or bogging them down with Reanimates and Skeleton Archers.

You sir, are doing exactly what I am doing. We are playing Heirs of Blood right now and I have been intentionally avoiding all undead monsters in anticipation for Mists + Chains. I can't wait to launch and undead themes campaigns as the undead of always been my favorite. I may stretch to include Plague Worms in my undead scheme since they are diseased. I have also not used any plot decks for the undead lieutenants!

I can't wait any longer!!! Come on FFG!!!

I really wish I had Plague Worms, but I haven't gotten The Trollfens yet, but I would've done exactly the same thing. Apparently, many of the Mists of Bilehall quests are hard to reconcile with the idea of an undead campaign, due to the traits used, so you'll definitely have to pull on those Plague Worms, and probably be OK with using some spiders and stuff too. I'm getting Shards of Everdark for the Shades (and, if absolutely necessary, the Dark Minotaurs) and Guardians of Deephall for Dark Priests and Crypt Dragons at the same time, too. I would love to squeeze in The Trollfens somehow, but it's going to be one hell of a purchase already and I don't want my SO to murder me for spending our savings. :D

At that point I'll just be missing The Trollfens, Lair of the Wyrm, Stewards of Secret (which I really don't care at all about, at least until they push out a jungle-y/eastern-influenced campaign), Visions of Dawn (which I'll want if I get Lair of the Wyrm or The Trollfens) and Bonds of the Wild (which is hard as balls to find).

Geez, they still have no release news on it yet. WTF are they doing?

I'm curious about this too!

Yea... What was once anticipation is starting to turn into frustration....

On the Upcoming page, The Chains that Rust is now listed as "Shipping Now", last updated today (8/17/15).

So I'd expect them to start showing up in a week or so.

I was always expecting them to hit at the very end of August, for some reason. I could swear that I had read it somewhere, related to the only two stores in Sweden where it can be pre-ordered (seriously wtf?), but now I can't find it.

Soooo still nothing....

Exactly, I felt it was relevant info seeing what the title of the thread is and stuff :)

personnaly, i'm more curious from what will comming next than this box.

since Hybrids classes are going to make me really disapointed, except for the campaign and some monster, and maybe the new OL class, there's really nothing to be excited about.

What? Why would you be disappointed in the 3 new Multi-classes? It's something you can use in any campaign. That's the big thing I'm looking forward towards!

shouldn't it be four ?

because it's not "new classes", but some sort of half of a a real class, mashing and mixing up already existing content, and killing the archetype mechanic.

Some are shown since Gencon, and it's the stupidiest idea ever !

I'm not going to play thoses ! Instead of real classes, we got this ? I could'nt have been more disapointed.

AFAIK, it's 3 new classes according to the promo blogs (Battlemage, Steelcaster, Watchman). I'll be even happier if it's 4.

I like the fact that it's a mash-up. For example, I wouldn't feel right playing Syndrael as a fighter class and not having magical abilities. She's an elf! All elf can jump! Now I can rest easy knowing she can twirl a sword and shoot magic too.

(Oh man, I want someone like Pirotess in this game...)

And instead of just 2 additional classes, you get 4! Sort of!

And I don't.

And sorry, but I can't understand your logic. Let us talk it back after playing it, will we ?
But i'm sure thoses "classes" are going to be like Sea of blood for Descent V1 : the start of the sinking for Descent V2

There are 4 hybrid classes that have been talked about for Chains:

Monk (scout/healer)

Battlemage (mage/warrior)

Steelcaster (warrior/mage)

Watchman (healer/scout)

Of these, only monk, steelcaster, and battlemage have had previews. We heard about watchman from people who got Chains at Gencon.
