So I opened my new set of Rebel Transports and realised the pegs for the bases were the same as the squadrons (this is actually true of the other small ships but it was only looking at the transports that it clicked). You can put a set of squadron stands on top of the flotilla stand to give your GR-75s a set of fighter escorts.

My gears are grinding... How would a GR75 with fighter escorts function as a playable ship? Maybe a flotilla with better firepower in every direction but less engineering and half the hull value... Let me do the math...

You could give the flotilla counter 2 blue against squadrons and counter 1 red (with bomber) against attacking ships within range 1.

And who knows, depending on how literally you take the "Everything is canon" statement, you could argue that the new Lego Star Wars series "Freemaker Adventures" canonizes Uglies, since the Freemakers in question are the makers of these mismatched ships, and they are even referred to in the series as "Uglies" and "Z-Wing."

Well now I know what I'll be doing with the extra fighters I have.

The transports and the stand for the base have a flat spot in them. My brief try with this suggested I'd have to go through a bunch of the fighter squadron stands to find one that both the transport fit into and that didn't just start spinning at the slightest touch after being inserted into the stem going into the main ship base.

Assembled mine last night, they look great, thanks for giving my 2nd core set fighters a purpose once more!
