Hi I was wondering if you guys have any future plans on making Star Wars imperial assault app just like decent did that take over the overlord role
Star Wars imperial assault app
It was confirmed that they're working on this during their state of FFG talk during Gen Con. I wouldn't expect that before 2017 though.

Your search-fu is weak.
Thoughts on if they will release the app along with a second edition version or will it be used with original release of Imperial Assault?
I hope it is with the original core box. My wallet can't handle a second core box so soon.
I don't see any reason for a second edition at this point.
Yeah it should be compatible with the current edition of the game. If anyone has used Road to Legend, I'd expect it to be similar, and include options to include or not include the expansions in your collection.

Second edition?? What?? Why? Do not scare me. It is not needed, at all.

force awakens timeline.....thats what they will do to get a second core set out, just like they did with x-wing
Edited by CollinsTo me a second edition is different than having an alternative core box.
Note that all of the expansions currently in sale (and probably expansions in development) depend on the specific units and tiles of the core box being available. X-Wing does not need to bother with that - as long as the core box holds the maneuver templates, range ruler, and rules (and the damage deck) , expansions can be used. (Do the missions included in the bigger boxes require specific units from the X-Wing core?)
FFG probably does not want to scrap all current expansions - basically the whole game as it is now - with an incompatible core box. And I don't see the point making a compatible core box with a different campaign, because it could just as well be an expansion.
So, I still don't see a reason for a second edition, or even an alternative core box.

I would agree with your last statement if they kept to time periods. No time periods, then I think TFA stuff (or Clone Wars stuff) should be self contained.
First Order Assault: Core Game / Clone Assault: Core Game
Usable in Skirmish, but no mixing in Campaign.
Yes, I think it's too soon to see a Second Edition, but yes I would like to see one for the new trilogy. I want to get back to talking about the app. I would like to see them release an app for IA one that is similar to Road to Legend with a bit of "Campaign Tracker for IA," so you could actually use the app with already created campaigns from the core and expansions. I would like to do is have a community created campaign and mission section too like what they have with X-Wing's Mission Control!
No reason for a second edition. There's nothing that really needs fixing in this game, the mechanics and theme are amazing. The only thing that *may* need some fixing is a few overcosted units like Han, Chewy, and IG-88 - and you can fix that without a 2.0.
I gotta be honest. I had a chance to actually play one of FFGs new "app driven" games the other day (mansions of madness) and I wasn't at all impressed. The enemies did things that made no sense, everything felt random because you couldn't see how decisions were getting made, it was not at all clear who was supposed to make die rolls when. Overall a thoroughly mediocre gaming experience, so I am not particularly excited for an IA version.

You shouldnt compare it with the mansion app that alot different you should take a look at the decent 2.0 app its more like how Imperial assault wil be like.
Want.
Yeah really hope we get the app beginning 2017 and not late 2017
A second edition seems ridiculous to me at this point. As for coming out with stuff for "The Force Awakens", the game is progressing that way naturally. The game started coming out with stuff with the just after "A New Hope" episode 4 and have since moved through "The Empire Strikes Back" with the "Return to Hoth" and "The Bespin Gambit" expansions. They are soon start going through "The Return of the Jedi" with the "Jabba's Realm" expansion which is a larger box expansion like the "Return to Hoth" Expansion. Next will likely be a smaller box expansion like "Twin Shadows" dealing with the forest moon of Endor. The third large box expansion might deal with Jakku and the fourth small box expansion will likely deal with either Maz Kanata but much more likely will involve the Starkiller planet. And then continue through future films. Rouge One and any "flash back" film that seems like a bigger question mark to me but how they or if they incorporate those film into the game.
Can I gripe about the fact that the license allows for this but not for an RPG rulebook pdf? (Well I am griping about it, I hope you all forgive me)
Depending on the type of app, EA might have a say about whether the FFG license allows the app or not. But it won't be the first time FFG has reached an eventual agreement with the actual license holder.
An automated GM app, with atmospheric music and effects would be nice.
But who doesn't like playing Empire? It's the most fun bit of the game, surely?
I think it would just like the apps for FFGs other games. https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/products/descent-journeys-in-the-dark-second-edition/#/road-to-legend-section https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/products/mansions-of-madness-second-edition/ you actually need the board game to use the app right. When you open the app it asks what expansions you have and opens missions for you to play. It requires the boards and figures to fight each other. The app tells you what maps to lay out as you move to new areas. It isn't like any other app as it is just a new way to play with the game not as a stand alone app.
As a fan of both the mansions of madness app driven game and the ability to play co op descent with just 2 people using the app this would be great news. I don't currently own imperial assault as it isn't too big in my area and I know I'd have trouble getting more than 1 or 2 people together to play the campaign. A well designed app would most likely get me into it.
Has there been any more word on if/when/how this is going to come? If it's going to come I'd like to get into IA, but I am afraid to buy in only to have them do a sort of reset and not be able to use what I bought.
