Good One-Shot/Intro Scenario(s)?

By RedSquadronK, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

I am looking for suggestions for a good scenario to introduce non-gamers/less-serious-gamers to Imperial Assault, especially as a just 1v1 setting.

I've run the first intro scenario from the Core Set before and I was personally underwhelmed. I'm curious if people have any favorite scenarios from any of the campaigns that are very fun, can work as a standalone, and doesn't have too many crazy rules to keep track of. Maybe a side mission?

Or if there's a particularly fun skirmish map/scenario that I could build balanced forces for as a demo? Though I worry a someone newer to games could get overwhelmed tracking a hand of command cards and all that's happening on the board...

My hope is to have a fun one-shot scenario that doesn't overwhelm, but doesn't feel like a dinky tutorial. Any suggestions?

Hunted Down from TS is great. Han, Boba, pretty short/straight forward mission as well.

I used Backroom Bargains as an intro to a Bespin Gambit campaign with adjusted rewards (subtract 1XP and 100cr per hero from the normal Bespin Gambit setup rewards), although I made a mistake of running it at threat level 2, while threat level 3 would've been correct.

You could probably run that with just two hero characters without the legendary reward cards, give 2 XP for each hero and the imperial player and 300cr per hero and perform upgrade stages. Run at threat level 2 to offset the lack of Legendary reward cards. Or if you include Legendary rewards or use 3 or 4 heroes, use threat level 3.

I concur on anything that has "main" characters involved. Han Solo/Boba Fett is classic!

Or just run a side mission expansion pack and run with just 2 threat. 4 initial threat for the imperial isn't a big deal and give them some XP/Credits to start off with.

Chewbacca's side mission is fun. Just running around "freeing" wookiee tokens. If you have plenty of wookiee warrior figures (3 packs needed), then you could use those instead of the cardboard tokens.

Edit: Oh and you could just give them an auto 1XP and 2XP card. You pick it and set it up automatically for them. And give yourself the same. And then pick a couple of items for the team from Tier I.
