ROGUE ONE TRAILER TOMORROW!

By Joe Boss Red Seven, in X-Wing

This was great. Beautifully shot, and it looks like there are more action setpieces than people were expecting.

Loved the star destroyer over the city in the beginning. And the Death Star, upside down, ofr the planet or ?!?!. well it's just relative right.

I dunno - I guess it's not "wrong", as we've seen Star Destroyers sitting that low in an atmosphere in 'Rebels', it's just...

...well, I dunno. Maybe the stylized nature of 'Rebels' made it seem not quite as jarring? But that scene looked... not right , somehow...

Another Da#$ lambda wing thing in the SW universe......sigh...just so they can sell another toy that the only needed half the creative effort

Still looks like a b-rated action flick.

Must have watched it a dozen times already...40yrs on, still the same buzz!!

Roll on December ;)

Ah, the internet is a magical thing...saw a brief preview of ANH on TV, before VCR's, and then had to wait months to see any more at the cinema...

...can't wait to see what they do for the opening sequence!

Kinda looks like Jan Ors and Kyle's Jyn Erso and Cassian's ship they spend most the movie in ends up BEING that U-Wing, as opposed to their HWK-290.

Still looks like a b-rated action flick.

And thus, you hit the heart of what a Star Wars movie is.

Still looks like a b-rated action flick.

Do you even Star Wars bro?

My only question is: Where is the corresponding FFG article announcing the 'Rogue One' expansion pack!?

Imma be a mean-ole-fat-man for a minute too...

Donnie is great and I have loved most of his stuff... BUT: he did not sling Storm Troopers around like rag dolls. He is not a Jedi, he is a Force Monk... kinds. If his stick was infussed with power via his meditations and it had a slight blue glow or something cool like that then I would buy it.

GURLS... I love 'em... but stop turning our men into women. We got GURL-Luke in TFA and now here comes GURL-Han... me is over it Queen-Kathy. Go be a strong woman in real life, that is fine, but keep your GURL-Stuff out of my STAR WARS!!!

Okay I am done being a mean-ole-fat-man... now.

Star Wars was about an encompassing Sci-Fan Space Opera. This is just an action flick with space ships and storm troopers, and a plot that looks half borrowed from the expendables as far as a operation goes.

I KNOW RIGHT...

So the whole premise of the movie is that Mon Mothma is offering to 'wipe the crime record slate clean' for Jyn if she gets the Death Star plans, but...

...on whose authority, exactly , is Mon Mothma offering that?

I mean, we've all played (or are at least familiar with) FFG's "Rebellion" game, that does a pretty good job presenting the state of the galaxy at this time. Isn't this offer predicated not only on getting the plans , but the Rebellion then WINNING THE WAR? Because otherwise, it's just a death sentence to be not only associated with the Rebellion, but having been the person to perform such an extreme degree of espionage.

This movie is roughly the Dark Forces game... At least this movie is about trying to steal the Death Star plans, and the beginning of Dark Forces was them trying to steal the Death Star plans.

In Dark Forces you had the female Jan Ors. This is Jyn Erso in the same role.

Coming out with this movie they are not trying to change any roles from male to female to try to change any sort of gender bias... They are just taking the Star Wars story that existed and making it come to life.

Get over yourself. Females in the Star Wars universe are just as capable. They were fighters in the Rebellion all the way back to the Original Trilogy.

They could be offering protection. You get a lot more of that from a big organization like the Rebellion.

Still looks like a b-rated action flick.

Meanwhile, Alec Guiness considered it "fairy tale rubbish".

It's all about perspective.

I am not on myself, and I love women.

What I do not like is seeing this trend of turning males into females. ghost gurlers flopped for a reason.

If they wanted to do Jan then dammit... do Jan.

I'm still blown away by the new Mon Mothma. Can I spell doppelganger?

Really I just want the movie to made with as much care and turn out as well as that casting choice for Mon Mothma. If the movie is as good as she is then all will be well. Be the movie the deserves her casting!

You both know that it's the same actress that played Mon Mothma in Episode 3 in 2005, right?

Actually, I didn't know that. Thanks for the update. Doesn't change my vote though :P

I didn't realize how huge K-2SO was going to be. He's like 10 feet tall.

Also, has anybody mentioned the shuttle that isn't Krennic's abomination?

RogueOneShuttle.jpg

We saw that scene in the previous trailer, but now there's confirmation that it really is a shuttle that has front and back wings for some reason, not just two shuttles parked end to end.

RogueOneShuttles.jpg

I almost miss when anything shiny and new or hyped was exciting.

My only question is: Where is the corresponding FFG article announcing the 'Rogue One' expansion pack!?

Cant get that article until September 30th...when all the Rogue One merchandise can be released/previewed.

Which WILL give us that missing SKU's contents!

Those shots of the battle on the jungle planet look sweet. Love that shot of all the Rebel troopers scrambling for cover as the X-Wings come in. And then that rocket shot on the AT-AT.... Wow.

That was my favorite part of the trailer. Reminds me of the scene on Hoth where the rebel snowspeeders fly over the trenches as the ground troops are just starting to engage the AT-AT's. I have hope this movie is what Star WARS is supposed to be. Not cute and fuzzy...or whimsical and funny. Actual real war between a disciplined military against a rough band of freedom fighters standing up to oppression.

For me, Empire Strikes Back was still the best Star Wars. It was dark and harsh. The rebels were not fighting for Hoth, they were fighting to survive and sacrificed a part of their forces, so the rest could escape to fight on. Luke was even shot down during the battle and a good part of the Rouge pilots gave their lives. The lightsaber fight was devastating, because as a kid you think the good guy is just always going to win. The surprise of seeing Han froze, Luke beat, and Vader reveling the truth was overwhelming when I was 6 years old. I walked out going WOW! and then spent the next two years wondering if they were ever going to be able to rescue Han and what Luke would do if Vader really was his father. Point is...as a child, I was very much entertained by a movie that was not all light humored and cuddly. I felt insulted when ROTJ came out and the empire was defeated by teddy bears.

TFA sucked. It was rushed and copied. The first time I watched it, I felt like it was a fun popcorn flick...but as I watched it, I just keep feeling like I was watching a regurgitated New Hope. I have watched it 5 more times and I hate it even more each time I watch it. I think it sucks even more than the prequels. There was only one scene in TFA that I really liked. When the X-Wings were making their first bombing run and the camera angle showed them from a distance dropping down...Otherwise, the rest was just disappointing. Seeing the second trailer of Rouge One, I have already seen far more scenes that remind me of the excitement when watching Empire during those tense moments of battle.

I really hope this new movie is good. I hope the trailer is only a taste of what the whole movie is going to be like. I will wait and see in December...

I suspect that Jyn is captured by the Rebels, probably trying to steal from them. So, yes, Mon Mothma would at least have the ability to get her out of Rebel imprisonment.

I would argue that Jyn is in the Katarn role, and Cassian is in the Jan role.

While Star Wars has always relied heavily on archtypes, I think it is sad that you reduce new characters to a corresponding character from the OT.
