Innate Magic for Creature Building

By Aethyssusff, in Anima: Beyond Fantasy RPG

I've browsed the preset monsters and beings and noticed that some do make use of the Innate Magic special power, but part of the mechanics escapes me.

How does the maintenance work? Does it require the full maintenance in DP, like 50 DP for 5 turns of 10 Zeon, or just the 10? And how does it work with multiple and infinite uses?

The Filisnogos, for example, can cast Gravity Destruction an infinite number of times with infinite duration, so how does that play out DP wise? Also, can it cast and maintain multiple spells, since it has infinite use and maintenance?

I would appreciate a ruling here, if there is an official take, or any advice if there's not. Thanks in advance.

Creatures with Innate Magic can cast a spell without Zeon. The cost in DP is (20 + casting cost + maintenance cost). Thus, if I want a creature that can cast Detect Essence innately with a 40-foot radius and a 110 MR, I would have to pay (20 + 50 + 5) 75 DP. This allows the creature to cast it once per day, but to maintain it indefinitely (maintenance of a spell is an Innate Action - see page 113.

There are other limitations to Innate Magic, however (see page 111). In particular, you may only cast one Innate Spell per round, and can only maintain one Innate Spell at a time. The creature does not have to have a Magic Accumulation to be able to cast it, however - this is a natural ability of the creature and is completely different from "normal" spellcasting. The creature does not actually know the spell unless it has the Gift and has learned the spell seperately. Otherwise, the creature cannot spend its own Zeon to cast the spell (for instance, to cast a more powerful version of the spell).

EDIT: Also, if you want official rulings about the game you'll probably want to go to the Edge Entertainment Anima forum . I don't know if AS patrols this forum. The above is taken directly from the rules.

Thank you! This really helps. I'll try posting further questions in that forum as well.
