Rules cards from Team Covenant Video

Thanks! Does anyone have the dice face breakdown btw? Google is failing me, although maybe no one thought to record that information yet. From what I can see looking at pictures and the way threat and damage work, re rolls seem really strong in this game. Because you're rolling only 2-3 dice usually and multiplying damage instead of rolling more dice, a blank is going to really hurt.

The number (and color) of dice you roll is shown on the unit's stat card. You multiply the damage result with the threat. The number of ranks indeed grants you rerolls.

Yes. And just to be clear, when everyone is talking about "threat" and "ranks" you aren't talking about individual rows or columns of models, but instead the model trays. Correct? Seems so from the demos.

I mapped the dice faces: https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/228119-dice-and-rune-faces/

Correct, the number of trays what matters.

I wonder if the units have to be in the formations shown. Could I make a 6-tray single line skeleton archer squad for example?

Another thing. What happens if my 3x2 unit is getting flanked. Would my opponent face 2 threat with 3 rerolls? And if one tray would be destroyed and the flank would be on that side, would my opponent face one treat and 3 rerolls?

1. The unit cards have available formation 'loadouts' on the back (as well as their upgrade slots, which increase as unit size increases, and the units base cost for that size)

2. That's a really good question! I would imagine it's as if they're fighting from the front, but the flanking attacker simply gets a bonus for flanking.

From what I've seen in the various demo videos, flanks work the same combat-wise (You'll use your front-facing threat and normal rank re-rolls no matter what side your opponent is on) and that in the full game, flanking and rear attacks will have a substantial benefit to whoever's attacking those sides.

It is too bad that the Daqan formation costs are glared out. I got all excited building an army for the Waiqar that it was dissapointing that I cant build a counter until we get some better quality photos.

We didn't use the flank rules in the demos just to simplify things down a bit. If you are flanking an enemy in melee, you get an extra die when attacking (blue or red, your choice). When the flanked unit is attacking you, they get no rerolls no matter how many ranks they have, and their threat is determined by the number of trays on the contacting edge.

It's important to remember that casualties come from the back row of trays first, and the attacker decides which back row tray they come off of, so if you knock out a tray on the contacted edge, you could really hamper their return damage quickly. In the full game, good positioning will be huge.

That's what I like to hear: crushing flanking results!

Oh wow. Flanking's a drastic problem then. Definitely rewards maneuvering prowess. That's interesting, though, how the Daqan cavalry could technically manage a bigger multiplier on the flanks if they were costed out at 6 trays. Almost like -- "We're not that accurate since you've outflanked us but now we'll just drown you in horses."

That's assuming the flanking attack didn't wipe out that critical back tray for said hypothetical situation...

Wow, brutal. Fast flanking units will be super strong.

That's awesome.

Good to see almost every in one post. Could we get some sweet images of the dice?

Appologizing in advance for the necro, but this thread contains some really good info for people just getting interested in this game due to the new news articles. It also answers some questions I've seen asked in new threads. Thanks to Nalim and Oloh for collecting all of the screen shots in one place, and to KrisSherriff for the great videos. :)
