Forget waves 9 and 10, let's fix the E-wing!

I prefer taking into account the thematic bonding of E-Wings and R7 Astromechs. The Star Wars RPG does this quite well.

'Industrial Automation Integration Systems'

0pts

Equip an 'R7' Astromech. You Gain 1 hull and may perform one additional action per turn.

Obvs you'd release more R7 droids, but the title as-is has some sweet combos with the existing ones. With Generic, you Target lock then Evade for uber-defence, with R7-T1 you boost, target lock and can then barrel roll, for the ultimate arc-dodger.

I like this other than the +1 Hull...there has to be something better than that.

I like the idea of just giving it an upgrade that limits it to Astromechs 3 or less points.

Basically means you buff everything except Corran+R2-D2.

I like that negative point cost, but the uparade limit seems a bit much for that small a deduction, you'll still end up spending a load of points just with Corran, even without upgrades.

Honestly I think they just need to be cheaper. They are begging for slot upgrades, but the base chassis is just too expensive to recoup the costs. They don't need "more stuff". I hate to be so boring, but something as simple as a Chardaan style points decrease would do it. That way Corran doesn't get "stronger", he just gets cheaper.

R8 Astromech

E-Wing Only

When defending against a secondary weapon, you may add an (evade) result to your roll then change one blank result to an (eyeball).

This would be a hard counter to the U-Boats, Dash and annoying to the Bro-Bots and TIE Defender D's, while taking up that astromech slot. It would give the E-Wing a niche role to play, and making them all together more playable. While you would not be stuck with the rebel regen on the E-Wing itself.

The E-Wings, do need a fix, but they are supposed to be somewhere in between an X-Wing and an A-Wing. I don't like the idea of added hull value they are supposed to be a bit squishy.

If you see a FIX word it's 90% chance that it's rebels

and 80% chance that they all propose the same "OVER9000!" things over and over

make it cheaper, boost it faster, add some hulls to make it stronger

It's almost like the non-Corran E-Wing has been blatantly underpowered since release.

Not a reason to make them outgun everything up to BBBB and Swarm

What if the E-Wing could equip any astromech for free?

If the fix comes alongside a good 5 point astromech ... ;-)

Gaining a second system slot and reducing cost of all system upgrades by 2 might work, especially if this is part of an astromech slot upgrade which allows to still equip 2 points or less astromech. Might actually even work for X-Wings generics. Not sure if a free fire-control system for Y-Wings would be overkill.

I think if you want to fix the E-wing you need to play to its strengths and flat buff isn't going to do that. As a straight up astromeched Rebel jouster it can't compete with either model of X-wing (and being outclassed by the T-65 is saying something). If you want to patch it up, you've got to give it its own niche.

Discounted double systems could be interesting. Greening up its dial without closing the astromech slot (or closing it to regeneration mechs) would do it a lot of good too.
