Current Meta...Need Revenge.

So I haven't been able to play as much as I'd like to because of work and such, but I try to keep myself updated with the latest x wing news. I played in a tournament this past month and...let's just say...due to a lack of better words....I got crushed. =\

Can anyone tell me the current Meta? Or like the top four lists people run. I don't fly "brand name" lists but I'd like to know what to except so I can plot my revenge.

A) Dengaroo. There's a couple of versions of this, but the most popular is:

-Dengar w/ lone wolf, title, zuckuss, R5-P8, counter measures, glitterstim & plasma torp = 59

-Manaroo w/ push the limit, unhinged, recon spec, feedback array & engine = 40

B) Palp + aces. Again, there's a few versions, but the most popular is:

-omicron pilot w/ palpatine & sensor jammer = 33

-inquisitor w/ push the limit, V-1 & autothrusters = 31

-Fel w/ push the limit, title, autothrusters & stealth = 35

And that's about it.

Okay, maybe there's a few others, but the meta is pretty stale right now. Although with Wave 9 released at Gencon, hopefully it will get shaken up!

Black/Crack swarm is also a thing. This is normally 5 Black Squadron Ties, all with Crackshot and Howlrunner with a handful of upgrades.

Triple U-boats have not been completely superseded by Dengaroo and are still about.

Defenders look strong after Imperial Veterans dropped but haven't quite settled into the Meta yet. Expect to see people experimenting with these guys.

Gonna have to be more specific as to what you got crushed by

Currently you can build to eviscerate any leg of the meta but you'll run into trouble v another

Example:

Palp aces? Guaranteed damage and they become a joke

But torp scouts eat you

Torp scouts? Higher PS, high damage lists. But palp aces laugh at you

Etc

Wes Jenson seems to be a general purpose responsr in that he irritates EVERYONE from aces to scouts to dengar to defenders etc. But he's just an X so he won't win your games by himself

PS1 blockers have great value right now. They can help shut down U-boats, Aces, and Dengaroo (the Manaroo portion at least).

Double-tappers are good as well with all the token stacked Defenders and Aces. TLT is in a good spot currently if you don't run against too many U-boats. Their 3 attack spam is one of the few things that Dengar can't deal with very well.

There's no particular list that counters the entire meta, otherwise everyone would be running that instead.

Just try to have a plan for the main archetypes that people have mentioned. Crack Swarm, as good as it is, isn't super popular. Not a lot of players are willing to go through that mental exercise especially at smaller tournaments.

Dengaroo and Palp Aces are the top two.

I'd guess that Crack Swarms are bringing up third place.

After that...not really sure. Maybe U-Boats?

1.My collection includes everything. Haha

But I usually only fly imperial and scum...just out of principle.

A lot of multiples of things as well...for example 3 shuttles, 3 yv666's, 10 ties, 6 interceptors etc etc

So I can build pretty much anything.

2.The thing that's been crushing me is the 3 jumpmaster list or anything with super dash + bwings. (I can not stand super dash!)

Is running three shuttles and wampa still viable? Or three yv666's? I think the problem might be that I run ships I like, not ships that win

One tip with it. Keep Carnor alive. He annoys every bit of the meta. Scouts can't deadeye, manny can't focus, aces can't spend tokens etc. Buuut he is a 3 hull squint. One wrong move and he is dead. Wait for the right moment to bring him into play. With the defenders...do what they do best. Joust the snot out of people.

In the end it comes down to making your opponent choose one of the folowing. Go after the defenders and get flanked/trolled from carnor, or go after carnor and get eaten alive by the defenders.

Not quite true. Manaroo is PS 4 and therefore moves first. Its not too difficult to move her out of Carnor's R1 bubble (especially with barrel roll and boost as options) and then pick up the focus. She doesn't give a crap if Carnor moves back into range 1 at that point, because she just hands off the token to Dengar anyway. And of course, if you move Carnor into range 1 of Dengar (to stop the use of the token after the pass), you risk losing Carnor, because even tokened up, at range 1 of Dengar (even without his focus available) there's a decent chance that zuckuss will turn Carnor into space dust...

Don't get me wrong, I don't think the list is bad and I'm not knocking it. I just want to make sure there's on 'false advertising' ;)
