Rebel 200pt Fleet

By BrobaFett, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hello! I was hoping to get a bit of assistance in building a small rebel fleet with some interesting limitations for the upcoming mini vassal tournament.

When I picked my box, which would determine what components I could use to build the fleet, I said to myself, "I will be fine as long as I don't draw AFMKII carriers." So of course that is what I draw. I have never really played AF carriers because any time I have laid them out in practice I do extremely poorly, so now I am outside my comfort zone and not sure what my fleet should end up looking like. So far I have this

Limited to only the ships and upgrades found in the boxes of:

The Core, Two AFMKIIs, Two Rebel Squadrons, Two R&V, Rogue Squadron from the Campaign, and the ISD.

The biggest limitation here is that in a 200 pt game I can only bring 67 pts of squads, and squadron packs take up 4 of my 7 possible draws. This means I will have tons of wasted potential points and almost no upgrade cards to go off. So far, this is the list I feel functions the best, if I am totally off base, and one of you sees some potential I don't lay it on me. This has been quite a challenge!

Admiral: Dodonna. Only get the choice of him and Garm and since I will have 1 or 2 ships Garm doesn't feel worth the points. Might be wrong, but with Dodonna at worst his low point req frees up space for other stuff.

Objectives: Precision Strike, Hyperspace Assault, Superior Positions

AF MkII B - Dodonna, Gallant Haven

CR90B - Dodonna's Pride

B-Wing x2

X-Wing

Rogue Squadron

200/200 points

I wanted to fit rogues in, but with the point totals so low, and my only ship options being carriers, the high point totals just didn't seem to make sense. I could swap out both X-Wings for Han or Dash, but then I would have an odd number. I could swap them all out for 4 YT-2400 but then no bomber keyword and using Dodonna I feel like I am going to need that. I have a Nebulon I could take instead of the AF to free up some points and give me a few more upgrades and maybe 1 more squadron, but neither of the titles that make them shine. Give me some wisdom, people who like AF carriers, because I need it!

Right first option along the route you took:

Assault Frigate Mk II B

Dodonna

Corvette A

Scurrg

Scurrg

B Wing

Rogue Squad

Now the alternative which you might enjoy a bit more:

Assault Frigate MK II B

Dodonna

Paragon

Corvette B

Dodonna's Pride

and either:

Nebulon B Support

Or:

Rogue Squad

Dash Rendar

YT2400

Assault frigates dont NEED to be run as carriers, they can also be gun ships. In this case the underused Paragon will favour heavy use of the navigation dial. Its not seen much, because there is usually a better ship to build on, such as an MC30. However, as you dont have one, building around Paragon isnt a bad idea, if you can work hard on those double arcs!

In this format it isnt necessary to have pairs of squads, deployments will be low for most anyway.

Hmm.... I actually do like that second option but you are right I pretty much discounted paragon because of how telegraphed the nav commands can get when trying to double arc. But without a lot of flanking targets it might not make a difference. And I am much more comfortable with YT's then carriers, as my go-to list is YT heavy.

In regards to the carriers, Scurrgs instead of B's? I think I will lay both of these out on the table and fiddle tonight. Thanks so much for your input!

Speed 3 with grit compared to speed 2. Without a proper fighter force, it'll be easy for the bombers to get bogged down, with grit the Scurrgs may be able to leave the poor rogue squadron to look after the fighter fight on its own.

True, I was thinking slow roll, but with a "large" fighter force in this format being 3-5 grit might be worth more than I gave it credit for.

You have the ISD box, throw Heavy Turbolasers and ECM on your frigate and call it good.

Dodonna 20

AFMK2 85 (72/6/7)

CR90 Dodonna's 45 (39/6)

50 for squads.

Alternatively: A 200 point ISD?

120 ISD2

36 Vader

7 ECM

6 HTL

6 Gunnery Team

25 for 3 TIE fighters to tie up bombers for a critical tur

Its a rebel box, so a rebel fleet... ISD is just for bonus cards.

No problem. Was more joking tham serious.

I still think HTL is probably your best bet for some attack buffing.

Hmm HTL could be good with paragon... I'll see if it adds some punch! Thanks!
