New Scum List - "Manaroch 88"

By jangopool, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Picked up Wave 9 stuff at Gen Con and after competing in a few tournaments, I wanted to test out a new competitive Scum list using the new goodies that came out.

Old Teroch

Fearlessness

Concord Dawn Protector

Manaroo

Push The Limit

Engine Upgrade

IG-88D

Unhinged Astromech

IG-88C

Adaptability

IG-2000

100 Points

The goal for this build:

  • Old Teroch get in Range 1 with an ace, stripping its tokens with high survivability - 2 evade tokens and 1 focus tokens while Teroch gets an additional focus or Target lock with his own action along with an extra hit and evade in the right position
    • With all the tokens and his ability, it would be almost nearly impossible to take out Teroch. The only thing that can rival Teroch is another Teroch, but at that time, it will just come down to the luck of the dice.
  • Manaroo hangs back from combat just giving tokens to Old Teroch while shooting things from the outer perimeter - Manaroo is pretty beefy and maneuverable to give tokens consistently throughout the game
  • IG-88C is similar to Manaroo, but instead of hanging back, can strategically target into range 2 on other jump masters or even a palp shuttle due to its maneuverability and boost

Going to test this list out later this week, but the idea excites me for sure.

Thoughts?

Old Teroch doesn't ACTUALLY remove tokens from high PS aces. I mean, it would be nice if he could, but it will never happen unless your opponent is an idiot. Having said that, his ability is still pretty great because its entirely psychological. It will likely cause your opponent to change their maneuver plans and that leads to mistakes which you can hopefully capitalize on.

Just don't expect to get to use Teroch's ability much (maybe at first, when people are still getting used to flying against him).

Based on my limited practice so far, I am finding Teroch is best off with push the limit. The reason is because you can threaten a much greater area of the board when you have the ability to boost and barrel roll in the same turn. This increases the 'fear factor' his ability represents.
