You have never had it happen then. Go and play a game where the victory is in the bag, where both people know that you will win the game and then make a simple mistake. Plan an Engineering command instead of a Nav, or take 1 more click on a turn then you needed, hell, you could get forget that while they cant attack at Long range with a shot due to a crit they sure can at medium range. OH and my personal favorite, fly right into the maws of 4 Gladiators

There is no "perfect game" however you should go into the game thinking that a player will make the most optimal choices.

Lyr, what you're saying is true, however this also falls into the realm of being outplayed (you made one more mistake than your opponent). I was in situations where my mistake could've cost me the game, but the opponent didn't capitalize on it/made his own mistake and lost the game as a result. So one can never say that he lost only because of his own mistakes. Saying "the game was mine to lose" is different though - in my mind it means that the matchup is so advantageous to one side that with perfect play on both sides and average luck that side should win.

I am unable to think like that. I always consider that they will make the best choices. Oh I HOPE and PRAY to the living stars that don't make the best choice because then I survive.

That is exactly what I consider it when it is mine to lose. If it is a swingy game or something like that between evenly matched opponents, that is just being outplayed. That happened with ArmadaJim and me. He legitimately outplayed me and he gets that credit every time (though I feel like a broken record now). I get the difference quite well.

You earned that compliment. MattShadowlord beat my v3 DtO through luck and guile and it was an AMAZING game. He played it great and even out played me in the end. It can and has happened, I am no slouch of a player though. Egotistical as it may be, I wont lie to anyone about it.

The vassal events were good for it, especially when biggs was streaming the commentated games.

Some great players in the area. I am proud to be ranked 3rd overall here. Naboobo2000 and Shmitty are a fantastic 1st and 2nd, and the others all rank really close behind me so I have to watch my back. It is all fun though!
