It was fun! I had fun in that game. Learned new things and HERO taught me a few things which his flying.
Using a mic you can do a full game with plenty of squads in 3 hours, setup and everything.
Of course, if people would stop spending so much longer than in RL before making a decision...
Is so odd for me. I know I'm also probably guilty of it, but you really shouldn't need more than about a minute tops to commit to a shot or movement.

I lag. . . 5 3-5 seconds to pull up a layer, 5-10 seconds to lock in, etc
Lagging is a server bug and 2.2.9 bug. Temporary thing.
There are certain players that I can finish a game against within 2.5hours. And I am glad to say PT is one of them.
I've played PT too recently to have a grudge match, but our two fleets are arch rivals.
HERO and Lyraeus, great game. I do feel that the close ram sort of sealed the deal. Up until that point it was anyone's game. Once I learn Vassal more, I'd be down to try and play someone. Right now, I can navigate the system but don't know the hotkeys.

Just watched it it was fun... Forgive the backseat driving buit in regards to this...
As for big mistakes, I think the pivotal moment for me was around the 2h30m mark where after I killed the Admon, I clipped a shield on my MKII moving the whale and the whale got stuck. The capacitor failure was also really bad early on, but I think that was the turning point. I think if I got a little bit further out, Ackbar might have lived until next turn and that would have been a completely different story. When playing on the table, I almost never bump, so I definitely need more game time on Vassal to gauge that kind of stuff.
not that I am anyone of note really and I am probably wrong, but I kinda felt like the mistake was the turn before with afmk2 move I felt that if you did the more aggresive turn in then that would have meant you get to block his blocking trap and then allowed you to activate the afkmk2 to delete and burn clear opening the way for the mc80... obviously this would have changed moves on lyr's part after the fact but I'm curious.
Could I get your feedback on why you didn't go with that option? because it would be great for me to learn as well.
I do tend to be too agressive for my own good sometimes, and asking better players is a great way to learn.
@Akenatum
The turn before I purposely moved the way I did so I wouldn't take additional fire from a TRC90 and the leftmost MC30s TRC. Getting in close with Admonition was already the big risk I took, but it was calculated.
As for the MKII moving so close to the MC80, it was for 3 reasons:
The first, was so the MKII can be an extra rammer to free up transport blockers.
The second, was to kill transports and scatters because of Home One's free accuracies.
The third was to provide overlapping fire so that even if Home One wasn't able to use broadside batteries, the MKII would still be able to add decent firepower to free up anything in front of Home One. So in that kind of instance, the MKII would activate and shoot first to free up the Home One.
However, leading up to the destruction of the Admon before the bump, I ran some quick numbers in my head and decided that it was probably impossible to kill the Admon with just the MKII, so that's why he didn't activate first. Otherwise, I would have moved fighters there to try and soften up the front first.
Hope that helps! Glad you enjoyed the game ![]()
I think having commentators and not splitting the audience is key. Its why I loved when Biggs streamed (and not just because he let me in the booth). Commentators can communicate with the audience via the chat without sacrificing concentration needed to play the game, and keep that audience engaged. They can follow little tangents of game related thought during the ample downtime inherent in a vassal armada game. It's more fun.
I still have PTSD from the 4 hour match that Biggs, JJ, and I commentated together. Things got a little weird...

Yeah but it was so much fun for me to watch you guys.
@Hero Thanks for your thoughts behind the move
it's always great for me to get another players thoughts on way they make a move to help expand my own game when my thoughts are something quite different ![]()

Your tears: they fuel me.
if the players were willing, it would be cool to have their thoughts as alternate audio tracks for the game. i could learn a lot from the thought process behind the moves

Thats a sick concept but probably very difficult to pull off given that this is a pretty casual enterprise. That said, after watching the game u can always ask them about their process postgame.
It is another area where commentators are useful, albeit inperfect.

All I did was set up reactively to Home One. I worried that the lane he created with the obstacles was going to force me to come in there so I set up my 3 tokens far from that to try and force him that way. From there I used the non titled MC30 to block a left sweep from Home One and went from there. My intention was just to trap Home One, but getting all 3 ships and using Bright Hope as a bouncer was a pretty cool thing to see!
Having chatted with Lyr on FB all through that battle, I can attest his tough process was 'I hope he don't escape, I hope he don't escape, I hope he don't escape....' Pretty much the entire time.
