How does capital damage work?

By player1818260, in Warhammer Invasion Rules Questions

Hi! I'm really interested in this game and and probably gonna buy it really soon. I was reading over some of the rules to get a better feel for it (and procrastinate during finals), and came across a question:

Scenario: It is the battle phase, and I decide to attack my opponent's quest area. I declare the section I want to attack, pick my attackers, and let my opponent picks his defenders. Say he picks two unis out of three available to defend. We then assign damage to each other (assume no counterstrike, or any other damage modifiers). I am able to place enough damage tokens to take out all his defending units, and thus place the rest of the tokens onto the quest area. After we assign the damage, the opponent uses a tactic card that takes away one damage from his defending units (wether through mitigation or negation). So now my opponent has a defensive unit that survived. What happens to the damage counters I put on/near the quest zone? Since one of his units survived, are all the damage tokens I wanted to apply to the questing area removed?

Ignore this post, it is a duplicate.

Once damage has been assigned it must be removed or canceled in order to not be applied regardless if it is a unit or a capitol zone. The rules about when you can apply damage to a capitol do not require you to remove all defenders, but instead assign enough damage to equal the HP of all defenders before you assign any to the zone. That5 damage, once assigned, must be dealt with directly in order to not be applied.

Thanks for the answer! I can't wait to get this game.
