OK....that might be a low blow, but I tend to get sick of just hearing how everything is terrible when other podcasts talk about it. It's probably the biggest reason why I started my podcast.
The wave 9 preview releases have been keeping us so busy! Thank goodness that's done, I'm sure we'll have a quiet period for a while before the next major release preview...
Yeah, I need time to play more games to have other stuff to talk about.

Keep ON-IT Brah... they can't bring us down!
You know, I kind of want to know....how many people out there hate it when other podcasts just bash all the new stuff, except what is broken/competitive?

They bash all the broken and competitive stuff too. For instance, Dengaroo is currently getting hate from the podcasts especially Mynock, you guys hate on Whisper, and a lot hate on palp aces. Not one podcast is immune from hating on stuff it seems sadly. It does get annoying when podcasts just have constant hate throughout the episode, and you're right that they pretty much all will hate on the new stuff. I like how you found a useful tool for R3 Astromech with Luke, but no other podcast even gave the thought of which ship it'd be useful in, but just came to the conclusion that it sucked.

Bugs the heck out of me, honestly. It's one thing to say "I don't think this will see competitive play in lists like (top-tier example) or (other top tier example)", but even a discussion that is focused solely on competitive application just saying "This sucks. Next." doesn't really provide any useful information or interesting discussion.
That's not to say that there isn't some merit to narrowing things down to a subset of new game objects or applications, but X-Wing doesn't release unique components at a rate that is so overwhelming that you have to throw large chunks out just to make the conversation coherent. It can be pretty easy to see how some cards/ships will or will not fit into existing strategies, but it is a very common pitfall in competitive analysis to write new items off as 'does not fit into list A, B, or C', without considering how a new item may combine with older items that don't currently see competitive play and how that could lead to something powerful enough to see play.
I honestly can't say anything about the content of these podcasts (don't listen to them), but the whole discounting of everything new apart from what isn't immediately and obviously insane (re: the inquisitor and torp scouts the moment G-chips were spoiled ) sounds exactly like what happens on the forums
and it's kinda sad, really
so here's the thing, I'm a negative nancy; born that way some might say. Hell, my poor mother spent an inordinate amount of time delivering me most likely because I was being pessimistic about my chances in the outside world.
but all the declarations of DOA revolving around these wonderful ships make me depressed
so, okay, Torp Scouts still exist and I doubt any non-Fang out of Wave 9 will stand up to them (except Quickdraw, who will die but probably take one with her while costing the same amount of points). This is a simple product of what ordnance does to low agility and little-no defensive mitigation. So...sucks, but honestly there's no reason to be that bleak about every other currently competitive list
what do we have? Palp aces?
ARCs: You got a new uber-r3-a2 platform (BRAYlen, the stress mule). 1v1 against any ace, c3po + r2-d2 Norra is almost literally unkillable. Against the inquisitor it's basically a done deal (just beware lucky crits hitting hull through c3po + norra's ability...somehow). Mod wins don't exist anymore; you just win
SF: you occasionally have Quickdraw's ability to fire before combat (if you don't, send her at the shuttle ; she has better-than-cluster-missiles !)
Caster: man I don't see a single ace that wants to be on the receiving end of Ventress' or Ketsu's ability. Sure, you can dodge a mobile arc, but you can't dodge a mobile arc if you got blocked by one of them (and then rolled out of b2b and unceremoniously executed by Ketsu at range 1). BMSTs and debris field give you more ace-hating options, should you need them.
Dengaroo?
ARCs:
while they're not jousters, two ARCs and Biggs are among the few lists I'd rate as having a chance against Dengaroo's Dengar in a simple straight joust (the other list? torp scouts
). You have Norra (after the one turn of counter measures) and you have Thane (even
during
the one turn of countermeasures, because you TL using his ability AFTER countermeasures are declared) outputting considerable damage while Biggs prevents them from being shredded down by concentrated fire
what about that re-rollable + infina-focus agility? Tailgunners, son!
Tie/sf: ...eh, rough. Not gonna lie, I've put the least thought into the SF beyond Quickdraw's KAPLAA!!!!!!!!!!!!! rage + baffle build
Caster: this thing goes fast . Chase manaroo, ya fools!

Sing it like "Everything is Awesome!" song.
Having only casual experience, it really does bother me to hear ships get immediately mathwinged and then discarded because they lack enough synergy to dominate the tournament scene. Having played the old video game TIE Fighter, I got into this game because I could once again fly the TIE Defender, my favorite ship. Was it good in the meta? No. Has it ever been good until now? Not really, but...
SPOILER ALERT: I had a blast flying it before, I have a blast flying it now.
It's a game. Let it be a game.
(channeled my inner J-bot for a moment)
Love the podcast; big fan.
Fly casual!
Thanks again for your podcast Heychadwick! It is by far my favorite.
Thanks guys! I didn't think I was alone in that mentality. Oh, I know the hard tournament types appreciate the other way it is. I figure there are lots of guys with low post counts that appreciate the change, though.
