Can Keyan's ability, of removing a stress token to change all focus to hits, get activated even if there are not any focus results on the die?

Yes. Refer to his entry in the FAQ.

When attacking, if Keyan Farlander has a stress token, he can use his ability even if he hasn’t rolled any <focus> results; in this case, 0 dice are modified but 1 stress token is removed.

Worth noting also that he explicitly can't use his ability if Omega Leader has him locked and he's attacking OL. You can't spend the token unless you can complete the effect, and all modifications, including the modification of 0 dice, is blocked by his ability.

So if Keyan attacks OL and OL has him locked that stress stays where it is.

Keyan also let's you get around the new "you can only spend a token for it's effect once per attack" rule by spending a stress and a focus token on the same attack! With Han Solo crew and a TL on the defender, you can even flip those pesky eyeballs to crits THREE different ways!

Now if only Keyan could get an Overclocked R4 it'd be marginally useful...

Spend focus, gain TL + stress, spend TL, spend stress. Win (maybe) !

uh...yeah technically keyan can spend a focus AND his stress ability in one attack, but wtf would you do that for? Even if you have something proc'ing off the spent focus, the banked focus for defense or not keyan farlander would be better than burning it entirely for the "spent focus" trigger.

Both focus tokens and keyan's ability says you change all your eyeballs to hits. Marksmanship is the same, though it adds a crit there first before modding the rest. You cannot not (double negative..ugh) mod a focus result after spending a token or keyan's ability. And anybody could spend 2 focus tokens if they had Calculation since thats a different focus spending event.

i am so glad Xwing isnt a RAW kind of game. Every single ambiguity that pops up gets quickly faq'd to shut the disputes up. Only ones that remain are people that insist the english language can be pieced apart at will. Or those that never look at faqs (any idea how many people i get trying to use evade tokens against OL?
