Theoretically, Windu's actual lightsaber is somewhere on Coruscant, where ever it landed after Anakin cut Mace's hand off...
TFA Beginner Game just arrived...
So, right outside the Senate building where Palpatine could easily have it retrieved?
So, right outside the Senate building where Palpatine could easily have it retrieved?
I bet with a fall from that high for that long, the wind probably carried it a good distance. Or at least far enough that someone else found it before whoever Palpatine sent down to recover it.
Or maybe Palpatine knew exactly what would happen and had Mas Amedda waiting at ground level to catch it.
ok i admit i did'nt read all the pages
however
what's inside this box can be useful for an AoR game? one with player already at more than 150 xp earned, with already several AoR books bought?
i see the map, that's really cool, and dice set, always good
then? a useless box like AoR one's? or there is some hint to something in the TFA era?
1) Bring Jimmy Smits back for Rogue One?
2) Even more outrageous... bring back the actress who played Mon Mothma in a CUT SCENE from Revenge of the Sith? Mind you this character NEVER appeared on screen, but you went out of your way to get the same actress.
3) Finally, one of the key characters from Rogue One, Saw Gerrera, is taken directly from the pen of George Lucas (he created this character specifically for Clone Wars, and the never finished spinoff "Underworld" series)
So lets see... canon... canon... canon... Hmm guess Disney considers the Prequels, and TCW canon.
They always have considered them canon. Where have you been?
- I like Jimmy Smits and am glad to hear he will be reprising his role as bail. I think it is a nice call back to the character in the prequels.
- is she a bad actress or something? Not sure why this is a big deal. They couldn't get the original actress and this one seems to have an uncanny resemblance to her.
- Again, not sure what the big deal is. Fans have been clamoring for some carry over from the animated series to the movies. Seems like this is a good place to start. See how it works out with a minor character and set a precedent. Then later maybe they can try other characters from the animated universe in live action. It keeps everything connected.
Disney owns Star Wars. If they want it in there it will be.

It’s a Beginner’s Game. It’s meant for introducing people to the FFG SWRPG universe who do not have familiarity with the game. Maybe they’ve played other versions of SWRPG in the past, but not this one.
It is designed to be generic enough to fit as the introduction to an AoR-type game, or an EotE-type game, or an F&D-type game.

As a Beginner Game, it is no more or less “useless” than the one from AoR.

IMO, it depends very much, so YMMV. I have all beginner games, and I find them all useful. I think maps are the element which is easiest to re-use. I can use any adventure in almost all campaigns I'm planning, if I do some reskinning and adjustment to encounters (more or harder or less or less powerful opponents), or combine them, or just use parts of them. Tokens are also always reusable, if it fits groups style of gaming (personally I use lots of maps, so tokens can be used with them). Without knowing more about you or your group I probably wouldn't highly recommend them, there may be better ways to use your money (like saving up to some sourcebook), especially if you want something that is usable without are modifications. This is beginner game after all. And I think that all FFG SW adventure modules are made for more or less starting characters, because it's easier to upscale adventure threats than downscale them.
But, I was happier with TFA beginner game than Force and Destiny beginner game. IMO, TFA box has more potential to be used in other games. If you don't find other beginner boxes useful, them you probably won't find TFA beginner box useful. I just realised that TFA box modified to rebellion era could be easily used to replace AoR beginner box as introduction to AoR or EotE.
What is directly useful for AoR game? Maps, dice and tokens. Adventure could be easily converted to AoR game by changing some background information and NPC stuff. Example:
Original: PCs are hired by nomads to protect them, and then they find imperial secret data from past. Modified: Rebellion commands PCs to protect nomads and search the imperial secrets from wreckage the nomads are living in. Or PCs are just ordered to get imperial secrets (datapads which contain large number of data about imperial bases in galaxy) and rebellion doesn't care about what happens to nomads. So they may help nomads, or side with threat which opposes nomads. The treasure (data) in ship might be more valuable in rebellion era than in TFA era. You'd also have to change Captain Phasma to some more era appropriate character, but that's not big change. Actually, in adventure PCs may be captured to star destroyer, so it might be interesting event in AoR game.
After beginner box adventure PCs are practically directed to join the resistance.
As said your mileage may vary. These are just thoughts your question roused.

As a Beginner Game, it is no more or less “useless” than the one from AoR.
Unless by "useless" you are referring to the quality of the cardboard the box is made out of, which in this case is FFG's usual wet-napkin garbage.
Okay, that maybe sounds harsh, but if someone can point me to a place to buy a decent box that will fit the content of all 4 Beginner Games, I'd love to throw some money at that, and I wish I didn't have to.
Still curious if anyone else has run this and has thoughts about it. I just ran the first half of the follow-up (.pdf adventure) and it's...really boring so far. Very "baby's first adventure", with little Star Wars-specific flavor.

I'm using something similar to "Foldermate one expanding file" to store all beginner box stuff I have (except dice and tokens which are at my gaming bag). It has 13 pockets, so 4 contain all books, 4 contain characters and 4 contain maps (divided by game line). I could probably put tokens to last free folder, If I'd put them in zip backs. best solution I have found. Cost was around 3 €.

I pointed Desslok at this a while back - there must be something in here that would do the trick? https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_1_17?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=star+wars+storage&sprefix=star+wars+storage%2Caps%2C170&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Astar+wars+storage

****. You're right.
That is some serious "Bye-Bye Vulcan"-level plot development.
The part that weirds me out is that Ilum wasn't just Legends -- it was Canon, based on the Clone Wars series. Why didn't they refer to the planet AS Ilum when they were on it? And why waste that planet when you could have just invented another one to nuke?
EDIT: I'm kind of annoyed because I really liked Legends-Ilum. And it is positively awesome in SWTOR.
Weĺl Rodian Clone I'm sorry to inrom you that it's been officially stated that Starkiller base's planet was near Ilum but not Ilum itself.

We don't have anything in canon stating what the rest of the planet was like.
Good point. We often forget that planets can have a variety of terrain and climates, and we only see part of that in film, tv, novels etc...

"Cut across Wild Space and into the Unknown Regions, and eventually you will find Starkiller Base, which was situated not far from the legendary world of Ilum."
Y'all reckon we could un-hijack this thread and talk about the Beginner Game?
I can't be the first person on these boards to have actually run it. Curious about what others have experienced with it in gameplay so far.
Ilum still exists in earlier time periods! I actually love this choice. It makes the lazy writing of bigger, bader Death Star into clever writing! Instead of just inventing new unoriginal content, they based it on earlier work, build on it and even made canonical and narrative sacrifice! And it all makes sense now, how Starkiller Base could do all that unexplained stuff we all whined about! This shows some investment in the established, canonical fiction and respect for both it and the fanbase! This choice took me from almost hating that ripoff deathstar Base and shaking my head at the writing to really loving it and respecting the writers alot!
I think it helps explain how the weapon worked, too. Presumably there is plenty of khber crystal in Ilum so they essentially used the sun to turn the planet into a giant lightsaber, which would explain why the beam was solid (and red, being all evil and sith-like). Doesn't explain how it split apart, though, or how the beam wasn't just slicing through space as the planet rotated (though they probably had the ability to control its rotation since the planet was more or less a giant machine at that point)

Sorry for being late to the party. Saw Garrera predate's The Clone Wars. Around the time of the prequels Lucas planned a live action series that was going to feature Saw Barrera as the main or one of the main characters, after Lucas got burned on the prequels he dropped the idea. So Filoni used the idea ultimately to flesh out the story on the Clone Wars Onderon episodes.
Fast forward to Rogue One and apparently the writers have an unnamed character that is some form of extremist rebel they need as one of the starting figures of the rebellin, Pablo realizes that they have the perfect match with a certain Clone Wars character who was a perfect match for what they were looking for, someone not afraid to cross that line who thinks that the end justifies the means, who also has another tie by being trained by Anakin, and the rest they say is geography.
