For all of the gripes about the Rebel TIE, it fills a space that the Rebels did not actually have before: the low-cost ace. Previously, their only options in the sub-20 point level were Lt. Blount (17 points but needs a missile, so really more like 20), Airen Cracken (19 points) and Zeb (terrible pilot ability for a 2-hull ship). Oh, and naked Roark, I suppose. They had generic options (Bandits, Talas, and Prototypes) but the options for named pilots were non-existent.
The Rebel TIE directly addresses this issue. It gives the Rebels four new named pilots, all of whom will likely clock in at less than 20 points. I'll be surprised if Ahsoka is more than 17. That was a huge hole in the space for Rebel squad building, so I'm happy to see that getting addressed.
Likewise, the Quadjumper helps Scum out by patching their own gaps in the upper teens. Their previous sub-20 point options were the ever-popular Z-95s (paired with a set of quality named pilots), and the less-popular Scyk. Based on Unkar Plutt's statline, I'd expect a generic PS1 Quadjumper to clock in around 15 points. That basically lines it up with where the TIE Bomber is at, and helps the Scum fill a void in the upper-teen price range.
The Upsilon shuttle doesn't quite add as much new items to the Imperials. Between the Defender, the Phantom, the Advanced and the Interceptor, they were already pretty well represented in the 30-40 point range. However, the fact that it brings the Coordinate action into play on a ship with a Systems slot will hopefully give them some new tricks.
