Dont understand Awakenings cycle....

By ringofox, in Star Wars: Destiny

... So, yeah, dont understand why in this cycle theres Darth Vader, Young Luke and Leia, young Han solo... I would espect the characters only from the episode 7 (i mean, if theres Han Solo, okey, but the old version)...

It seems very confusing to me

Iam missing something?

It's about what-if battles between characters from the entire saga.

From the FFG SW:Destiny Site.

Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce Star Wars ™: Destiny , a collectible dice and card game of saga-spanning, “what if” battles for two players!

It's not called Awakenings because of force awakens. It's just the first set and has a mix from all of the setting. Creates wider appeal to more of the fan base that way.

That will be interesting to see, I think there's still a lot of room for different characters and I'd like to see more characters before they start making different versions of the same characters. Who knows though, the future is exciting either way.

Yeah, me too, i owuld prefer a meta with unique characters at the moment, so you can know perfectly what yoda, vader, leia, jabba does...

To be fair, the subtitles assist with making that very distinction. When players discuss and compare the different versions of a unique card, they'll tend to refer to the cards by their subtitles rather than proper names. Why FFG does this for some of their games and not for others, I still wish I knew.

I'd assume part of the reason they went with X-Box-Huge dice and then put the Card Art on the dice is so that you can have a dozen different Luke Dice for a dozen different Lukes and have the Dice be distinct from each other at a glance due to different art.

Also what sort of abilities would you give Old Han or Old Luke?

Old Han: (censored because of spoilers)

Old LUke: Can't equip lightsaber.

:D

I'm asuming we'll have different versions of some characters. (Even imperial assault will have two versions of Luke soon.)

We haven't seen what Jedi Master Luke can do in the films yet, unless of course he has an effect that can end the current round by staring intensely.

Not to mention there may or may not be a deeper meaning to the "There has been an awakening" line that goes beyond the events of TFA and into the saga as a whole. Speculation on this point is very much a thing, with fans believing Anakin may have also been an awakening of the Force. Hard to say for sure at this point, though.
