Interest Check: Clone Wars PBP

By Rakaydos, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

True, but considering it's the only time you can spend XP on characteristics and the limited skill breadth it it's kind of expected. Honestly it's the requirement to purchase a +1 force rating that is the hardest thing with the requirements, combined with the 2 skill ranks and Parry/Reflect it almost excludes some of the more meandering specs in the game and definitely limits the talent options a player can choose.

Like I said though it's an interesting setup an I applaud your idea, both challenging and thought provoking.

I think I'll withdraw my application. I just can't seem to create a character I like with the restrictions in place. Best of luck with the game.

I'm extremely interested! If you're still looking, I'll try and get together a character. I'll post again when I've finished the sheet.

Edited Edit: Nevermind on Sentinel. I'm planning Guardian.

There we go. Dera Jerinu, a Human Guardian-Warleader/Soresu Defender. Sorry about the power descriptions; the site decided to give me an error whenever I filled out the actual descriptions. Therefore, they just have a "as [power] in the Force and Destiny core rulebook" description. She's not as soak-y as a lot of Guardians—I left her Brawn at 2—but, since she's got Soresu Technique, I think she'll be decent enough in combat.

I wanted to buy Heal/Harm, since Intellect is her Lightsaber stat and she seems the healing type, but I didn't have enough XP after buying Soresu Technique.

She picked +10 XP for her Morality option.

Link to her sheet, and let me know if I've missed anything or miscalculated XP: http://swsheets.com/c/bekrk2muh-dera-jerinu

I count 250 XP. Did you remember the Mentor discount on the 4 force powers?

Edit: Fixed now. Added the Heal/Harm basic power and one rank in Survival.

More seriously, though—I'm still a bit new to actual play of the game. Is having two people with Heal/Harm useful, or just redundant?

Relatedly, is Battle Meditation allowed? It doesn't say it isn't, and it honestly fits even a bit better than Heal/Harm (because Warleader specialization) but I want to make sure.

Battle meditation has a force rating 2 prerequisite I believe. Two people with heal/harm is not redundant since I personally haven't seen anything about two people healing one person has a penalty (I'm sure someone with raw may reprimand me if I'm wrong) so other than medical checks aside two people who can heal not a huge problem even though I'm waiting for a dedication to hit intelect 4 characteristic.

We all have Force Rating 2, remember? :P

I admit that I'm mostly worried about the stimpack limit, and whether that'd cause rapidly diminishing returns—basically, whether having two healers would just burn through the stimpack uses faster, or if it would actually add utility. I'm overthinking, probably; I have a tendency to get a bit caught up in the fiddly mechanical bits.

...honestly, Battle Meditation fits the concept I have for her slightly better anyway—as a "support Guardian," if that makes any sense. I'd sort of forgotten it existed when I was making the sheet, which is why I didn't take it then.

(Huh. It's one am. I should probably sleep.)

Battlemind is fine. A previous time I ran this scenerio, we had a warleader with battlemind who used command abilities instead of actually fighting, and it was awesome.

Have tried to build a character, and it seems that, due to the requirement of Discipline and Knowledge: Lore (along with the other required purchases), I will have to either sacrifice a point in a characteristic, change specialisations of my character, or drop out.

I'm interested in joining up. I'm probably going to roll with a Mirialan Pathfinder/Ataru Striker. Gets me a pet, and maybe enough agility to make using a guard shoto worthwhile.

What'd you do for your stats? I raised 3 to 3—did you raise 4, or just have a more indirect path to something?

(Wait, we've been buying powers like we have a Mentor. I should have 5 XP left. Hm. Yeah, nixing that Survival rank and sticking all 10 points into Leadership seems like a good plan.)

Chadra-Fan, raised 3 to 4 two times, I guess that I will make the character less agile. Should have 20 experience remaining after that.

i wasn't under the impression we had to have a force talent purchased so had to make drastic changes just to get it which sacrifices my brawn to a mighty 1 and no healer talent tree.

Alright, I'll drop the extra Leadership rank and take Heal/Harm after all. XD

yeah i ended up going niman discipline since it has every prerequisite in the trees having saber skills and a force rating in one tree ill probably pick up the other stuff along the way.

Nimian is a solid choice, as is Guardian-Protecter. I've also seen people try to cheese Sage/Seer for the cheap FR2, or even take Force Emergent.

I gotta say, making a character to these guidelines has been really interesting. I usually end up... well, a bit overspecialized, and I'm excited to play someone more generalist for once.

I'm considering a Torgruta Shadow/Shien, but have to work out the kinks of the XP. I just had another thought though, so I will post again when it is fully fleshed out...

Yea, after all the requirements, you're basically back down to being a starting character, but carrying a lightsaber around.

Considering I'm running you through a module intended for starting characters, that's fine. :P

Yeah my togruta girl will be mostly combat focused but I spent early credits to make my lightsaber good. My force rating will cover my athletic deficiency
