Yeah I think they should stay as tokens for mechanical reasons. Figures can occupy the same squares, and they don't block line of sight. Can be confusing when an extra figure is sitting there.
Companion Expansion(s)
The miniatures would mostly be for skirmish or for painters, heck they could even just turn them into low cost units for skirmish but still people could still use them for the campaign if they wished.
Skirmish Wave:
Rebels:
Cam Droid, R5 Astromech
Imperials:
Interrogation Droid (Could hand out harmful conditions), R4 Astromech (In Rebels, could act as relay points for Imperial Officers to extend the range of Order)
Scum:
Buzz Droid or alternatively Kowakian Lizard Monkey/Salacious B. Crumb, GNK Droid
Dr. Ball: "Good day, sir. I said good day."
I bought the scenery for bespin from combat-zone scenery and it has the companion droids with it.
That looks deeply intriguing to me. How do the companion droids match up with the Imp Assault minis? Like, could I base them up and they wouldn't look too out of place?
If you could post a pic of them next to R2D2 or something you would become my favourite poster.
I want 4-LOM to come as a companion to Zuckuss, BUT as a figure and an exception to the rules that spring from companions being tokens instead of figures. Basically they'd just be one group made of two different figures with their own stats and abilities instead of two copies of the same figure. (This is also how I feel R2 and 3PO should have been done.)
Edited by The GasThey could do a deployment card called 4Lom & Zuckuss, with 2 units.
The unit wouldn't be able to reinforce perhaps?

Zuckass and 4-LOM have both worked independently of each other. One is not a pet or a non-sapient robot of the other. I think they should come as a set, but be able to be deployed separately just like R2D2 and C3PO. Maybe as a military unit there can be Imperial Interrogator with an interrogation droid for a companion. But I suppose companions are just for players. I haven't messed with Bespin much since I bought it, so I'm not fully up on this companion system.

Well the Imperial player can use the Uggnaught so they have access to the Junk droid so we could get an Imperial Interrogator with that droid as a companion. Though I will still be campaigning for companions to have figures, partially cause I want to see the miniatures on the board and probably more likely that I want to paint them.

I made mention of these skirmish figures before, but I'd been thinking of possible abilities for these.
For example maybe the R4 astromech has the Relay action, where this action allows you to use a special action that, a friendly Leader figure has, targets a friendly figure on an adjacent friendly figure. That way it would allow for special actions like Order, Bombardment, and Firing Squad to be extended but would exclude special actions like Vader's force choke. The idea being that in Rebels they used R4 astromechs to relay orders and commands during a period where they knocked the communication array offline, so in skirmish it would serve a relay station while your leader character can either focus on another front or can stay out of the fight the same way Jabba can.
As for the GNK Droid it could have the special ability Overcharged that allows friendly adjacent figures to add 1 yellow die to their attack pool.

Here you can see my bespin scenery painted up. The 3 companion droids and r2d2.

Edited by SkuijsYes, I want them to be VERY SMALL though.

Awesome, thanks for that. They are noticeably a bit bigger than R2 but I guess for crappy junkers that kind of works. Definitely a cool alternative to the tokens.
Very impressive paint job too btw
Anything that gives me more minis to choose from I support, I guess. But here's the thing. FF appears to have extremely limited capacity for producing figures. Otherwise the assorted lackeys wouldn't all be in a the same pose. I don't think we'll ever see this.
By the way, am I missing something about Salacious Crumb? He doesn't seem to have stats. He costs a point and can activate when you do and can't hold objectives... but that's all the card says? Maybe my Jabba's Realm is missing a card?

Check your yellow-backed mini cards (Companion cards).
Edited by a1bertThanks I will look that up. I never play mercs really and the other night a new guy wanted to use Salacious Crumb and we were confused.
PS to heck with whomever has link'd to that 3rd party vendor. You just made me drop serious money to upgrade the heck out of my Nelvaanian Warzone rubber mat. #Hoth4life #'sarestupid cornedbeef#
I'd be 100% game for this.
So far, when our group's been using the campions, they're on separate tiles 95% of the time. Even with Salacious B Crumb (who's a melee annoyance), I found he was best useful just skittering about other characters and landing behind cover ... i.e. usually not ending on the same tile as others.
For the most part it would be pretty straight forward.
- Salacious - agenda deck (mission reward being a campaign-troop-upgrade card for mercenary figures to bring in that little pest on any mission with scum in it)
- J4X-7 - general reward card from the mission
- Pit Droid - general reward card for the mission, plus maybe a shop-version of the pit droid
- etc
The one outlier is 88-Z ... since he's part of the Imperial Class "Reactive Defences". While giving him an agenda card would be cool, 88-Z's baseline isn't that great, and might need a unique card. So ... yeah, I dunno.
But yeah, I stumbled on this thread since I was trying to find even a bootleg replacement for companion figs. So yes, I'd say a demand is present.
i 3D printed a J4X mini to use in the campaign.
Wow, the Night Sisters have been busy with this thread.
With IA seemingly moving to a 0-1 product released per year, there are many other IA products that I'd rather see released than this.
