Did anybody notice that Rapid L... card in the Phoenix Home expansion? It looks like it says: "Before deployment you may see aside friendly squadrons equal to?????" (squadron value of a ship?) Then it says something about deploying squadrons a certain distance unactivated. The art on the card looks like an A-wing in a hanger. Could this card be a way to store fighters in a ship and then launch them later? What do you guys think?
Rapid L....
That is what it looks like to me. Can we say SURPRISE RHYMERBALL boys and girls

More like SURPRISE B-WINGS!

B-wings have been really laying the hurt on me as of late. All I need is for them to be belched out at me.
Surpries Rhymes ball is scarier because it can hit from further awayMore like SURPRISE B-WINGS!That is what it looks like to me. Can we say SURPRISE RHYMERBALL boys and girls
Maybe. I think B-WINGS because this card really answers their one problem, SPEED! (or lack thereof). Also I think with most large ships having a squadron of 4 B-WINGS would be the best bang for your buck/space

Not really as it could do that anyway....
Previously you could outrun Bwings, now you cant
"Best spot for B-wings is to be where the enemy wants to end up, vs trying to chase them there." - My local B-wing expert lol
Edited by Wes JansonIt looks like:
"Before deployment, set aside a number of Squadrons equal to your Squadron Value"
then
"Squadron Command: Place a number set aside squadrons at distance 'x' (probably 1 or 2), with their activation sliders set to unactivated."
with some other wording, perhaps with more restrictions...
Just Remember as you approach Admiral Ackbar aboard his Home One MC80 with hangers filled with B-wings...ITS A TRAP!!!
Oooooooo surprise Nym will be the BEST Nym
Edited by Audio WeaselISDI will be able to carry 5. Might just make ISDI my new favourite carrier
Thing is, it may be limited to only launching 1 per turn per squadron command, or it could be all of them...
We can only speculate that so far.
Best part would be that you should be able to activate it with only a token.
Edited by shmittyRapid Launch Bays or Rapid Launchers?
Do you have to set a group assigned to a ship seperately, or would Nym be set aside and if you had 2 of these come out from one or the other?
This would add some punch to a hyperspace assault. Could bring the whole rhymer ball.
The only concern I have about setting aside mass fighters to drop off mid combat is that it cuts into deployments.

Every silver lining has a cloud, Madaghmire.
I like the idea of barfing some sorta nasty fighters onto my opponents.

But wouldn't it be fun to see one that didn't?
What I really find funny is at first, when I look at the game, before the reading of the rules, I tougth the squadron value assign to a ship was the number of squadron that the ship could bring to combat (like in the PC game Star Wars Rebellion 1998). After the reading I saw that have nothing to do with it. I was a little bit disapointed.
Because, after all, the moment that you decide to release your squadron can make a difference on the field.
With this card, maybe we could see that kind of tactics. To keep certain of your squadrons to the last moment (like the B-Wing). The easiest way to work this out should be to put those squadrons on (or near) the card of your ship that you assign at the start of the game. You opponent can see them at any time (no surprise drop).
Could be very nice (and should be already in the game without being a upgrade).
This upgrade will be epic for the Yavaris...doh!
I just need to know one thing about this card if true: Are the squadrons considered activated when they come out? Otherwise, meh.

The card says unactivated
I'm a rebel player, and love the concept, but honestly I think this card will be scariest on a dedicated ISD I carrier. Expanded hangar bays could let it take 5 (an excuse for including an odd number of squadrons). Speed 3. Flight controllers. Perhaps Chirpy rides along, or maybe a wing commander. Unload 5 fighter/bombers that your opponent has no way of intercepting, at full strength.
Granted, most imperial squadron make ups don't need the shielded escort because they have speed or range with Rhymer, but they are often fragile. This upgrade gives the imperials a whole new way to shake up a squadron meta
