Is a Lightsaber with an Extended Hilt a one-handed or two-handed weapon?

By HappyDaze, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

I'd go with option three. They can use it one handed and with a shield but if they want the benefits they need to use it two handed. When they suggest strapping the shield to their arm I would allow that but then rule that they can't properly use the shield for it's benefit so long as you're fighting with both hands on your lightsabre.

I think I'm going to go with #3. That way it offers the "bastard sword" option (old school version). I won't allow arm manipulating the shield to be usable for another weapon.

It also gives incentive for the Quick Draw talent. It seems the simplest option

Happy, I'd rule that a lightsaber with an extended hilt becomes a two-handed weapon. And if they wanted to use it with one hand, then just add a Setback die. KISS.

...unless your PC in question is "unusually large." Then, I'd say one-handed is okay.

Like say a Whiphid? And/or Wookiee? What else would fit in that category.

If it's talk about a silhouette 0 character I'd probably go with option 2 (setback dice or two for one-handed attacks). Same with an obviously small silhouette 1 species.

Normal sized Silhouette 1 characters, I'd go with option 3 ...

Big silhouette 1 (and if there's ever going to be a silhouette 2 PC species), I'd say option 1.

Oddly enough, there doesn't appear to be anything keeping you from putting an extended hilt on a shoto.

Yoda sized hand-and-a-half sword? Or just a regular Lightsaber which is more accurate and has a Vicious mod.

Long hilt with a short blade. Effectively the latter.

That way it will become a smaller Version of the Lightpike ;)

At my table it converts the weapon to a twohanded version.

Even if it is a Wookie or trandoshaner because I would asume that they would build (or buy) the starter hilt to fit theier hands at all, so an extended hilt attachment would make the cylinder of light and death for them even longer than it would do for a humanversion.

Personally I think that option #3 is the most narrative and makes the most sense in a real world application level. From a rules RAW perspective I think #1 is how the rules technically want it to be. It is simple KISS for the player to switch from 1hand to 2 hand as a (Free/incidental action) as long as hes got nothing gumming up his second hand. I would get pretty harsh with any attempt to manipulate the 2 hand benefit while using something else in one of the characters other hands in most circumstances tho.
