Who the heck is Sabine?

By Supertoe, in X-Wing

When will we get a Kingdom Hearts TIE fighter crossover ?

As soon as Disney officially reveals Ezra to be none other than Prince Ali Ababwa aka Aladdin in 'A whole new world' with 'a new fantastic point of view'.... lol

WHENNN YOU WALK AWAYYYY, YOU DON'T HEAR ME SAY....

She's one of the female leads of Star Wars Rebels. She's an Imperial Cadet from Mandalore turned Bounty Hunter turned Rebel Explosives expert and graffiti artist.

At the moment, Rebels is pushing out the most new Space-focused content, and thus she's showing up everywhere.

It took till the fifth post to get an answer. Thanks! Isn't rebels that disney show? FFG has sunk that low?

FFG has released a K Wing, a Punisher and an E Wing.

Using stuff from Rebels is a MASSIVE step up from that!

Why TIE FIghter for the Rebels? What about the B-wing prototype? :( I WANT MY 16 point Prototype B6 FFG! (aka the Orange B-wing with the suprelaser) :P

P.S. She's the blue haired one firing the superlaser composite beam weapon.

To be honest, I'd be fine with the Prototype coming out laser and all: if it is appropriately costed point-wise. Say 33 points for the base fighter, with laser as a costly one-shot ten-die addon weapon: overkill for fighters, good for use in Epic.

From a lore perspective, they probably did away with the superlaser B-wings for the same reason they cut down on TIE-Defender production: cost. That single prototype is years worth of work and probably many thousands of credits more than a viable production model, all for a close-range bomber with no hyperdrive.

It worked once, with the element of surprise and an ace crew; in the long run and with regular rebel mooks, it would just be too costly a target to deploy on a regular basis. TIE swarms would eat it before it could close the distance.

A correctly done B-Wing should have 4 ATK, Focus, Target Lock, Evade, Agi Zero, a system slot, a cannon slot, 1 crew, two torpedo slots and about 10 hull, 6 shields and ~35 points. Maybe make it a little less heavy on the hull, give it 1 agi and make it a little cheaper. Add maybe a TIE/D title on top of it when your cut a few of the hull points.

But the sad truth is that the Lothal Rebel's statline is a better representation of the B-Wing than the current B-Wing in the game. :)

So she, without any kind of formal training or actual flight experience manages to outfly trained (and actually experienced) pilots in modern fighters by using a several decades old transport just because she spent time in a simulator.

Then, due to being accustomed to a metal (?) staff (whose center of mass is probably close to the middle of the weapon) she manages to best Kylo Ren in a fight using a lightsaber (who, due to having a weightless blade most likely handles very differently than her staff).

Totally not Mary Sue at all.

Yes, because THE FORCE.

Also, calling the Falcon, possibly the most hot-rodded and modified ship in the galaxy a 'decades old freighter' is being pretty disingenuous. There's a reason that theme music started playing as soon as the Falcon appeared on screen...

You can argue about the statline. Could have been a cool thing to give them no primary at all, but several cannon slots with a discount.

I reckon they did away with it because it left the B-wing all but dead in the water (it could fly and that's about it), it was probably very difficult to manufacture and maintain and a proton torpedo could easily do the same thing far more practically. It punched through the hull of an Artiquens and hit something important (possibly an ammo hold), it didn't vapourise it in one shot.

Actually it is a very solid show with good characters that it 100 times better then anything out of the prequels

I can disprove this in 2 minutes or less :P

That was a good scene. I enjoyed the show, though there were certain notable arcs I utterly despised (the Overlords arc, I'm looking right at you) and others I loved (Darkness on Umbara was great).

I really liked the denied romance between Obi Wan and Satine, and her ultimate fate was suitably dramatic. The show gave both Obi and Anakin far greater depth and character rationale than the pathetic prequels.

Daisy Ridley is the only saving grace of the Rey character, I don't know how anyone can say she is not a Mary Sue.

She is just too good at everything, from force powers to flying to fighting to fixing stuff to being generous and kind. She is flawless.

People bring up Luke, no he is not anywhere in the same league as Rey. He was good at one thing, and one thing only in ANH, and that was flying. You only saw it at the end, but he tells Han that he is not such a bad pilot himself. And he says he can nail wamprats when talking about the size of the ventilation shaft.

Obi Wan in ANH, again, he is only good at one thing. Being a Jedi. You don't see him fly anything (until the prequels), you don't see him fixing things.

Now Anikin in a Phantom Menace is totally a Mary Sue character, which is one of the reasons it what made it such a bad movie. I would say worse than Jar Jar. As annoying and retarded as Jar Jar is, he does not have much of an impact on the plot, Anikin does in the worst ways.

The funny part is I like Rey thanks to Daisy Ridley's portrayal to her, but I cringe and eye roll every time she overcomes something that would have taken years of training in a matter of minutes.

Teenage Mando trash for some kids show.

Daisy Ridley is the only saving grace of the Rey character, I don't know how anyone can say she is not a Mary Sue.

Because the story is not hers.

The story is Finn's.

Might as well say, "I don't see how anyone can say Yoda isn't a Mary Sue, he's perfect and awesome at everything he does."

"Daisy Ridley is the only saving grace of the Rey character, I don't know how anyone can say she is not a Mary Sue."

Seriously? This BS again!? How about adding complaints about the Rebel Tie fighter too?

Teenage Mando trash for some kids show.

Wow, so edgy.

Careful guys, we have an Edgelord here.

Teenage Mando trash for some kids show.

But her Mandalorian heritage is finally just come out, in one episode- of Season , and look like it might come into play with Fenn Rau in Season 3. Mostly its not even mentioned, the only actual blatant show of it is her armor/helmet.

But while the show is a kids show, it isnt just for kids, yes obviously things like the spining heli--sabers were, but most of the time its a very good and well thought out show that gves EU lovers (like myself) some new-canon care.

Oh not to mention the theme of the show has usually been rather adult- or at least as adult as much of Star Wars is/has been before. Especially the last episode of season 2...pretty dark stuff in that one. It even has a showdown that many people i'm sure were expecting since clone Wars revealed Ashoka as Anakin's padawan.

and why not next time instead of complaining about Sabine being trash, either watch said show, or see who the character is, before commenting (you may already know more than you show), or maybe just dont make such a negative comment!

On the note of Mandalorians, I just kind of see them as the subject of Star Wars EU Worf Effect; they bring them out, tell us they are the biggest badassed, and then have the villain kick them around to prove they are the bigger badass.

As for Sabine herself, whichever side of the fence you're on in regards to like/hate, she's a newer face for Star Wars, one that does happen to be somewhat popular despite some nerdrage, and FFG wants to capitalize on something more recent that's getting facetime instead of increasingly obscure EU sources. Mind I like obscure things, as it acts as a kind of jump in point for finding out more information, but generally, if someone is new, they're going to prefer something familiar instead of another alphabet soup wing.

Still, as the only character to have four different cards of at this point, it does seem to be pushing the envelop a little much.

Obi Wan in ANH, again, he is only good at one thing. Being a Jedi. You don't see him fly anything (until the prequels), you don't see him fixing things.

That point gets even emphasized in the prequel era as Obi-Wan is notorious for getting shot down when he is piloting a ship, hates flying and his only redeeming quality is: Being good at surviving a crash.

Daisy Ridley is the only saving grace of the Rey character, I don't know how anyone can say she is not a Mary Sue.

Because the story is not hers. The story is Finn's. Might as well say, "I don't see how anyone can say Yoda isn't a Mary Sue, he's perfect and awesome at everything he does."

back to the original post ..... how can any star wars fan not know who Sabine.

this is probably one of more of the following :

  • great trolling
  • movie canon only fan boy
  • been stuck in carbonite for 2 years
  • cartoons are only for kids
  • a trekkie
  • cant afford a TV because of to many x wing waves
  • likes to eat crayons
  • mummy controlls the remote control at home
  • cant use google
  • girls don't belong in star wars
  • rebels isn't real star wars
  • what do you mean there are books and other star wars stuff (not just movies)

:)

A Mandalorian Mary Sue?

Its easy not to know her. In Denmark I believe the only place to watch Rebels is Disney Channel, a channel I don't think that many families have. If you don't go look for Rebels stuff online, you will miss her.

Wait a second. Are you suggestion that there are geeks in Denmark who actually watch TV? In this day and age? Sir, I need to check your netflix passport and nerd credentials, I think there is something wrong with them. :P

If you are a star wars fan, when a name gets dropped a few time you google it. then you look at places youtube and ebay and amazon. with in 24 hours you know and have every thing

Seapocalypse: No, thats why I don't think many have the Disney Channel, my kids don't have it, nor Netflix. Also they are to young to be let loose on the internet, so no Sabine for them. I have watched a few Rebels episodes due to currently working with Star Wars storyboarding, its alright, but nothing I actively seek out.

Anyways, just wanted to point out there could be reasons why people don't know the Rebel show or its characters.

You do realize that outside US Netflix is not that big a deal, right? :D

so you know who Sabine is ... your kids if they play x-wing then they use yours (i guess they dont buy their own) and I bet if you didn't know who Sabine was you would google her.

And people you should watch Rebel its actually great stuff

I do realize that. I realize as well that Rebels is most likely not on netflix. But it is such a nice and universal shortcut for "online streaming on service x, y and z, while x being crap, y being illegal and z maybe not avaible in denmark".

Either way the show is avaible on the net via most likely more than a dozen distribution channels and TV is going the way the newspapers and dodos.

Speaking of distribution; Here you go: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Star-Wars-Rebels-Season-DVD/dp/B0119OZIO8/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1470652991&sr=8-1-fkmr1&keywords=rebels+season+1
