Need help locating a T-47 airspeeder turn template.

By Lazyshisno, in X-Wing

About a month ago I saw a speed four or five turn template in the shape of a crescent moon that would allow an airspeeder to complete 180 degree turn around an AT-AT. (obviously a custom template).

can someone please direct me to that template, or can someone please create a printable version of a speed 4 and 5 180 degree turn.

super appreciated in advance.

this post baffles me on three or maybe four levels.

sorry I can`t help. I hope you find what you are looking for.

Velvetelvis:

which four levels are you baffled on ?

I am working on game mechanics for the battle of hoth scenario that a few x-wing players have shown interest in. In real time, using current maneuver template options it would take nine or ten turns to complete two passes around a roughly 5 inch base plate (in order to successfully deploy a tow cable) thematically speaking, that would be fine, but in the interest of moving game speed along, being able to complete the maneuver in 3 or 4 turns is preferable. I am envisioning ground based units only being able to move on even numbered turns, to add a bit of realism to the superior maneuverability of air units. It will also make passes around AT-ATs a bit less challenging so you are not broadsiding them mid pass.

so, just to open a dialogue and try to get some other thoughts or interest in the topic, whats baffling you ?

Imagine doing a series of 4 hard turns around an asteroid or whatever.

Imagine what that would look like on the table if you didn't remove any of the templates and kept ship models as place holders.

Got it?

Now imagine those series of maneuvers as 2 big double hard turn templates in order to facilitate circling something that would normally take 4 turns to circle.

this post baffles me on three or maybe four levels.

sorry I can`t help. I hope you find what you are looking for.

Are you possibly thinking of a Star Trek template- they have a 4-soft turn template. And a 6-straight.

nope, no 180 degree turns in there.

Try the guys who did the Endor ground attack scenarios. Can't remember who they were but they do have videos on youtube.

No Baaa, but that is a cool template, I had not seen that before. This template was labeled, just like an FFG template, black in color with the #5 on it and was a turn, just the same as the front half of that firing arc template.

thanks for your help in trying to solve the mystery.

No probs. They also have a U-turn template which may be of use.

That's a 1 turn I think, but they might do other sizes.

Nice ! you are right that's basically a hard U-turn, could be a fun template for a different application.. :-)

Ninja-ed!!

And I wish this movement would come to X-Wing as well.

Ah! I see now what you mean. I had never heard of these types of templates.

Thats what was messing me up.

Could you have mistaken this S for a 5? GMG198-product__90790_zoom.jpg

Attack Wing has a 6 straight and a 4 bank. Sure it wasn't one of those you were thinking of?

I don't see why you don't give those speeders the SLAM action, with an advanced SLAM type upgrade.

You're looking for a 5 speed double turn? Speed 10?

I'm almost positive it was a full u turn, so in that sense it was a double turn, but it wasnt speed 10.. If you take the straight 5 template and bend it so that it complets a full turn... The slam could also be the right answer, i just thought it would be fun to have a template specifically for circling AT-ATs. Thanks Gabe.

I'm house ruling starship combat in FFG's Age of Rebellion roleplaying game, using X-Wing (at least the Flight Path system) as a basis for movement. The RPGs ruleset has upgrades and talents that could take a vanilla fighter up into manuevers above and beyond anything that X-Wing could handle. I was looking for a way to deal with this. I considered the Attack wing templates, since they added a 6 straight and 4 bank. I was about to order their template set for this very reason (oit on Applied Perspective's site) when Andy got and touch with me and let me know that Attack Wing banks are slightly off from X-Wing measurements. The conversation progressed, and I ended up putting in a custom order that added 4, 5 & 6 banks and turns and 6, 7 & 8 straights. Andy was very knowledgable and easily interpolated the bank and turn dimensions to come up with the bigger sizes. I'm sure he could easily whip up some U-Turn templates to your liking. I highly reccomend Applied Perspective as they were experienced, fast and delivered a great product. Here's some of the pieces I got (Mirrored Red) so you can see the end product:
