Have we seen the end of EU ships in X-wing?

By Sabre 7, in X-Wing

I must have missed it. What did they force FFG to release in X-Wing?

Nothing that we know of. And if they did, we won't hear till much, much later. I do know that Decipher had to pretty much scrap three in development expansions in order to create Episode I expansions. Without full knowledge.

absence of proof should not be considered proof of absence.

And absence of proof should definitely not be considered proof of existence. We call that a conspiracy theory.

There's a reason why every FFG announcement cones with a "pending approval from licensor" notice.

Approval is one thing, but I don't think that means Disney or even Lucas Arts are dictating which ships to release.

While the relationship is good, that does not mean that LFL isn't able to dictate such things. They have before, and I would be shocked if they license agreement doesn't give them that power.

We don't know (and probably never will), but absence of proof should not be considered proof of absence.

Personally, while I highly doubt LFL and Disney micromanage FFGs release schedule, I think broad stroke, like 'please promote Rebels more' or 'please have Rogue One tie-in products ready for movie premiere' aren't outside the realm of possibility.

Disney illuminati confirmed!

In the case of TIE Fighter.

#1 best Space simulator ever on some lists even now isn't that niche.

People remember the X-wing series of games, enough of them for XWM to keep them relevant.

You know, if you want to talk about obscure, what about the early 90's books? You know, the ones with the silly Alien Grand ad...... ooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

You know, I think I know more X-wing players that never played the old 1990's game than those that do. I think the idea that the majority of X-wingers have played those games is not true.

I think many people would be surprised to learn the kinds of things Disney does and does not micro manage. I have heard some pretty crazy stories.

Depends on the age group and background of people you play with.

I'd be inclined to agree with you, but that doesn't stop the X-wing video games series from being relevant, it was a big part of the 90's golden age of EU star wars culture.

What part of PART A: "IF MOUSE WANTS IN" and/or PART B: "IF CHRIS LOVES IT!" are some of you guys (&Cultist) just not understanding?

I don't care how much any of us love any ship; it ain't gonna be in the game unless parts A and/or B are in play!

Scream like out there in your own world nerds, and print up all the cheap-ass shirts you wanna... FFG STILL AIN'T A GONNA!

Joe, we're not just talking about the X-wing games. But the 90's EU in general.

That means Brobots, the mist hunter, the JM5K which didn't impact the meta at all, the K-wing, the Galaxies ships. - The Hounds tooth.

My point is that there is a hell of a lot of EU left to mine, and that it is continually being mined.

What I am trying to say is:

ALL EU SOURCES ARE RELEVANT!

Now, stop being a **** to those of us that are fans in a different way than you are. That's really not cool.

Even you have to admit a scum Action VI Transport would be nice.

Don't matter no more Brah... see my post above.

:)

I respectfully disagree. See my post above.

I read it... was fine, just not how the people in charge look at things. I know seeing the ARC got many people riled up and happy for PT Ships, but that was a knee jerk. The fact is they are in the game because they are part of NEW Cannon.

We can get with the reality of the companies attitudes and be happy that our games will continue to grow... or some of us can be mad and poo poo waves 8, 9 & 10 because their beloved wants are not included or even in the que.

;)

That's a bit difference. That's hating on haters, not hating on ships that people want in.

I'm excited for 9 (though deathwatch may delay my purchase) I enjoyed 8. I'm excited for at least one ship out of 10.

I can think of at least a dozen ships I'd like in the game from the golden era of the EU. Not all of them are from the X-wing series. (Though you got me, 7-8 are).

Kimo with krayt title should be in.

Of course, the Miniatures Fame has absolutely exploded in popularity in the last couple of years, in no small part due to the re-energence of StarWars in mainstream media (and the defection of players from various other tabletop gaming systems), so it may not be as true now as it was originally.

Of course, any Star Wars fan who HASN'T played the PC games is doing themselves a disservice. Some of the best Star Wars games ever made.

Edit: Apologies for the typos. Stupid mobile touch screen keyboard

You mean the one who was also your commanding officer for much of TIE Fighter?

I'm in the same type of boat right beside you my main Starior... it would not hurt my feelings at all to see EVERY HUTT SHIP in the game... HUH... HUH... HUH!

Now, maybe FFG have moved away from producing the kind of Star Wars ships that I'm interested in (and the kind of ships that got me invested in the game in the first place), but that doesn't mean I'll stop playing. Just that I'll stop spending.

This. I personally won't be buying a lot from the next 2 waves because I already have a ton of binder chaff and ships that never see table time. My Imp Vets and a TAP won at a tourney are still sealed. I'll keep playing x-wing because I love the system and Star Wars but I'll sure be spending a LOT less on the game moving forwards.

I thought... "Scum get a tug!"...

{Insert childish giggle here}

Right, and I get it. Your issue is with people taking the XG1 thing too far.

Fine. Whatever, I can sort of see your point there, maaybe the shirt was a bit much. I thought it funny. I am fairly sure the intent was that it was funny. Some see the Gunboat thing as overbearing.

Your issue is with people negging on waves 8-9-10. Yeah, total agreement. Though 10 is skubtastic apart from the flying hipsterstache.

Don't go hating on those of us who want more EU ships in the game. Not just x-wing stuff, but really anything set prequel and OT era.

I said a few years ago I'll say it again.

I want ALLTHESHIPS in the game. Gunboat, Stormy transport, R-41s, Kimo/Krayt/Rihkshryck/Nova Courier/ActionIV/Sentinel(especially this, it was an OT ship FFS) another 4 variants of X-wing, TIE Avenger, TIE Aggressor, uglies....... you get it.

The only thing is I think Vong should be left out, even then i'm not going to go hate on the people who want it. Too tired for that, and everyones got an opinion and a reason for liking something.

So we need a Vong 4th faction is what I'm hearing.

Why?

If we're going to keep adding EU stuff, clearly we need to go all in.

Given how much I hate Tau, and my attitude is not "Tau should be removed" and is more "DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE!" (translated to a love of fighting and killing them) this is actually a fair argument.

My counter is that unlike other ships in the EU, the Vong are from what is now an aborted timeline, where the sequel trilogy overwrites them.

If we're going to keep adding EU stuff, clearly we need to go all in.

No we don't. They can and should consider each ship that they add and make sure it actually fits, and will sell well.

The mear fact that it exists isn't justification enough to be put into this game. Also the Vong don't really exist anymore.

Neither do a bunch of the ships that are currently in. I guess they need to be removed.
