So has anyone tried reading the title for the upsilon?

By bcons, in X-Wing

I am very curious what the Kylo Ren's Shuttle title card says for the upsilon shuttle, and it seems to be pretty interesting since the text is so lengthy. I can barely read it, I hope you can!

Upsilon-Class Shuttle only. Title.

At the end of the combat phase choose an unstressed enemy ship at Range 1-2. It's owner must assign a stress token to it or assign a stress token to another ship at Range 1-2 of you that that player controls.

Im not sure like the last part. If I choose a ship to stress my opponent can just say "well no I would not like you to stack stress on Fel I'll take it in tie number 3004 instead". Lacks bite the way it worded

Yeah seems weak.

The chosen ship must be unstressed. What the hell is Fel doing within Range 1-2 of an enemy ship unstressed?

Nibbling on its butt.

Avoiding Slicer Tools.

The chosen ship must be stressed. The ship that ends up getting assigned a stress could have a stack of stress on them already.

Edit: Example to what I mean as I'm not great at being clear.

Poe and red vet both at one of shuttle. You try to stress poe (the good choice) but I can just say "na the vet takes it". It's slightly wasted at that point.

It would be kinda ridic at that point level if it didn't have a catch.

Against an Imperial player?

Ok fair enough my example had a flaw but my meaning still stands. There are ships that you would like to stress that your opponentcan just say no ill take it elsewhere instead. Without the bottom bit it's a good card but with that little bit it's meh to me.

:(

Thanks for reading it though! I tried to take a picture and crop it, but it still didn't work! :D

so the problem with the title is people think stress only harms PTL aces

the reality is stress can screw over anything and either make them far more predictable or deny their actions

so it's a very decent title with a very wide area of influence

Yes, it's just more effective with aces.

But a stress is a stress, and giving out free ones is still cool :)

It's a decent title. Kind of a modified Mara Jade, but with better range and is targeted rather than hitting everyone. Sure your opponent could pass the stress to another ship, but you're still giving your opponent an unwanted stress.

Interesting though- it doesn't say whether or not if your opponent decides to pass the stress that the second ship has to be unstressed.

Example: You have Poe and a Red Vet in range 1-2 of you. Poe is unstressed, Red Vet has 1 stress. You decided to use the title to give stress to Poe. Under current wording, your opponent can give the Red Vet a 2nd stress and leave Poe unstressed.

Will probably need an Errata update to clarify whether or not this is the intended function or if the only ships that can be assigned stress have to be unstressed.

Ah yes, two stress is really effective for the enemy, because you will (probably) have a shot on an action-less ship.

it doesn't need an errata

if it wanted to pass to another unstressed ship, it would've specified another unstressed ship

Unless it's a zero cost title, the stress isn't free :)

So... Tycho and Poe both in range completely neuters the ability, right?

So... Tycho and ANY SHIP both in range completely neuters the ability, right?

FTFY.

So... Tycho and Poe both in range completely neuters the ability, right?

well no, because no one runs either of those anymore :P

really it'd be Dengar and Manaroo completely neutering the ability...but then Dengar loses LW so it's all good

I guess it's the player's challenge to try to get Fel the only one within range 1-2 of the Upsilon. Although, it would be pretty challenging to maneuver the Upsilon (even with a pilot skill six) perfectly so that The PS9 Fel manages to be the only ship within range 1-2 of the Upsilon. This could happen in some cases, but the scenario is most likely not to happen. :(

It makes perfect sense the way it is written. At a two point cost, being able to add a second stress to a ship within range 1-2 would be a little overpowered. Not requiring an action or an attack or having the target in arc makes it fairly powerful for two points. It would be by far the most powerful stressing ability in the game. It makes the owner of the card pick an unstressed ship to affect but allows the target to decide whether or not they want two ships with one stress each or a ship with double stress and a stress free ship.
