About that still missing SKU after GenCon...

By ForceSensitive, in Star Wars: Armada

What do you think it could be? I'm thinking it's something to do with Rogue One myself. I'm utterly perplexed as to what it could be related to that though.

GenCon aint over yet :D

They low key drop Armada Epic play with Executor model skipping into the display case. That would be hilarious.

I was thinking the same thing with 2 days to go. Why spoil wave 5 today unless you have something... "Bigger" to show off later.

One thing that might be fun is a ship that either side could use? Like the A variant for rebels is a skosh different from the B variant from Imps. The Sabine TIE fighter made me think of this.

I agree with Dras. I'm thinking it will be the flurry / quasar-fire carrier, available to both sides.

Ah, I missed that Dras already speculated that. A both-sides Quasar would be awesome!

The other thought I had, but dismissed for many reasons, was a Rogue One starter set for Armada like they did for X-wing with TFA.

If they did my prediction would be complete!

Because of the 2 to 1 ships in the starter set the Imperials are still one ship behind.

I'm hoping for an imperial nebulon with a sleek grey & red paint job.

The nature of the Empire makes a bit more sense that they have fewer ship types and more standardised fleets though. The rebellion use whatever they can get their hands on. Of course it makes sense for the Nebulon to be imperial too.

I'm still holding out for a redone, cheaper core set, based around Rebels, that you could buy in stores for $60 or less. I think right now the largest impediment for new players is the $100 price tag on the core.

Give Imperial players an Interdictor and Arquitens, Rebels get Phoenix Home, CR90 and Nebulon. Suddenly you can play out the TV show and expand with all the Wave 1-4 ships.

A single ship, aside from an SSD,isn't enough to justify a release for Force Friday. But a new core set absolutely is. And I just can't imagine an SSD coming without rumors by now. Even if it weren't for Armada, we would be hearing rumors of a high quality and large SSD model or toy being produced.

the change of them making a playable SSD is slim to none an slim left town

at its currently know length an SSD would be 95 in long at scale making it to large to use.

not saying they will not make a collectors model of it just not one for play

If Armada scales were accurate the CR90 would be barely larger than the GR75 flotilla, and the GR75 flotilla would be even smaller than it is now. The ISD would be almost twice as large as the VSD, and both the Liberty and Home One would be significantly larger.

Armada uses what's referred to as a sliding scale, so that ships look appropriately larger and smaller next to reach other. If they make a Super Star Destroyer, it's going to look huge but it will probably be not much more than double the size of the ISD. Think more like the X-Wing Raider, which is gigantic next to an ISD.

Um, yo mean the IMPERIAL LIGHT CARRIER!!!!!

I'm still surprised we haven't see a Resurgent-class Star Destroyer yet.

I'm still surprised we haven't see a Resurgent-class Star Destroyer yet.

I'm not expecting it until we see new capital ships for the New Republic/Resistance. I was opposed to seeing it until we had all the available canon GCW ships in. We are VERY close to that right now with the Quasar and Possibly the Venator (still in use in the outer rim).

If Episode 8 introduces capital Resistance ships I would be OK with introducing them at this point.

The cost of those expansions alone will be over 100 dollars.

Interdictor: $40.00

Arquitens: $20.00

Phoenix Home: $30.00

CR-90: $20.00

Neb-B: $20.00

Total: $130.00

As great as it would be for FFG to sell the core set at loss, I don't think it will happen.

He means 2 separate cores.

Interdictor: $40.00

Arquitens: $20.00

Add in some TIE/LN's

So this is a well more than $60

Phoenix Home: $30.00

CR-90: $20.00

Neb-B: $20.00

Add in some X-Wings and we are well over $70

While the ships posted are only an example, the general concept is not. By your same math, the X-Wing core set should cost almost $60.

Even so, it is balanced by the lack of cards that come with the core. You also have to balance the core with the needed cardboard and such that one needs to play the game.

Don't forget dice and maneuver tool with the core. Another 20$.

Yup. The basic core is already 40 for the VSD, 40 for the 2 rebels, 15 for the dice and tool. Thats 95 already and they squeezed squadrons and cardboard and cards in there.

Yeah yeah.

The real cost of the core is closer to $50-$60 with a 80-100% markup.

If your right that the cost would go up by increasing the number of ships, it would actually just slightly decrease the MSRP markup.

Even if you don't do am entry product as a loss leader,

Well considering that FFG charges roughly 55% of MSRP and stores get base profit prior to expenses from that 45% that I think it is a bit lower than that however, everyone needs to make money here to keep them going. Even though FFG is a bigger corporation it wont take a pure loss if it can help it.
