2 Naboo fighters and 1 Gunboat
*TURNED AROUND*
They aren't going to release a third core set only 12 months after the last. It took almost 4 years between the original and the TFA sets.
They will more likely release a 'Rogue One' expansion set with U-Wing and TIE Striker... plus hopefully a few goodies for the T-65.

Rogue One is a one-off movie, there won't be enough ships in it to qualify for it's own core set, it will just be either an expansion, like "Heroes of the Rebellion", or just a few single packs.
3 TIE fighters
Edited by Xerandar3 TIE fighters
And one is the Rebel ship!

Huh? I was expecting two Rebel TIEs, with the third ship being Scum's TIE.

One for each faction!
One thing I could see happening is an "updated" red box core.
If the cards were unchanged (Though I doubt anyone would cry if a couple of the upgrades were swapped out for something a bit more useable - I'm looking at you, R2-F2), but it was packaged with an updated damage deck and rulebook it would be a better option for new players while being something that heavily enfranchised players could skip with good conscience.
You could even use it to sneakily set up for some X-Wing love down the track. If they reprinted the X-Wing pilots with the ship name written in full as 'T-65 X-Wing'I don't think people would get too confused when errata came out for the rest of the X-Wing pilots and we got a couple of titles to match.

Like all the new ships that were in the Force Awakens? I think it is a stretch they're doing the quadjumper. I'm pretty sure Rogue One already has em beat.
This won't happen. The last was just to appease Disney. They have their claws in this now and want to create a brand name.
It is what it is! Not complaining, Star Wars exists again. The begging of the end is when new game mechanics come with every new wave. When kids lose interest then mom's start complaining about cost and dad's stop spending as much money until they find a new game to play with their kids.
Edited by ozmodonI'd take a new core set with ep viii including awesome new ships we still don't know and haven't thought of. Anything else wouldn't really excite me for a core purchase.
Eh....
So correct me if I'm wrong, not super knowledgable about Disney's plans,
But I remember Rogue One being a sort of "spin off" movie
As opposed to EP 7 which is part of the new trilogy
Now this doesn't mean much Ito new core sets other than the only new core set we got was pulled from EP 7 and the old one from the OT (technically ANH but I know fluff bunnies will correct t me saying Nightbeast was from ESB, cloud city specifically)
So idk if Rogue One is new core material rather than a wave add-on like the individual FO and T-70 packs were
Ground Assault, with rules for combining with Imperial Assault.

This is ignoring the fact that there wasn't a Star Wars movie every year to cash in on between the first core set and the TFA core set. FFG is a business. Businesses like to make money. Star Wars movie tie-ins print money. Therefore, I'm pretty sure Force Friday will see the release of a Rogue One Core Set as expansions won't interest the big retail stores like Walmart and Target. FFG won't miss their biggest payday this year by ignoring a Rogue One tie-in they can release in the big box stores.
New core with episode X in 6 years.
In the mean time they can offer a deluxe core set, 60-80 bucks, 7 ships, Falcon, Slave 1, X-wing, Y-wing, 2 TIEs and TIE Advanced (with fix). You can play IMPs vs REBs or include SCUMs too.
Rogue one set - 2 xwings, 4x2 titles ala defender. People to moan about OP x wings until EP 8. But no core set...
And one is the Rebel ship!3 TIE fighters
Huh? I was expecting two Rebel TIEs, with the third ship being Scum's TIE.
One for each faction!
And Sabine's the pilot on all three!
So it's established: 3 Sabine Wren TIEs, one for each faction. Beautiful work guys.

Completely agree. I have been posting similar for a while and have had a bunch of people saying things like "welp, Target won't be happy, they had the stuff on clearance a year later" or "why would they even do this, it will just be a blister pack" or "Rogue One isn't going to be a BIG Star Wars movie" but I can't help but think that there is no reason NOT for FFG to promote the game with that sort of brand recognition that a new movie will get it.
Sure, there will be players that would buy it just for the overarching franchise name (that's how my wife first bought this for me) but there was a reason FFG released a TFA core set. My gut is that they didn't print enough to last them for the lifespan of the game so maybe them producing a new core version with the new models they will already be making anyway isn't THAT big of a deal to FFG/Asmodee/Disney and having a visually new core set will encourage new sales at a time people are going Star Wars crazy?
Anyone remember how these forums were ablaze this time last year with similar stories of how this wouldn't happen? And then a Target employee leaked the pictures?
For what it's worth, I'm not absolutely stating that I believe this will happen but given how powerful the Star Wars brand is and how mighty the Disney marketing machine behind it is, it seems like almost too good an opportunity for them to pass up when there's really not a downside to them doing it.

I dont think we'll get a rogue one core set, but not enough ships doesnt really sound like a valid reason

Edited by SentinalA core set only has 2 different ships in it. We already know of 2 new ships coming in rogue one, plus some ecisting ones. How is that "not enough ships"?

Does it mean that they will release a new core set every year from now? Han Solo Core Set, Boba Fett Core Set etc?
